I keep reading that improved VW is superior and others say improved Imp is better.
This is for solo questing

There’s currently a bug with improved imp making it so blood-pact will fall off the party and re-apply effectively removing HP. Kind of annoying to use it now.
All the pets have their uses, there’s no “best” pet for every situation. I find myself using most of them while soloing. (except the imp, he’s mostly in dungeons for his buff)
a little disappointed, went out for an hour expecting to have some replies ready for me. My lock currently has all his talents available because i unlearned them (went 100% into aff tree)
I personally find that the VVW cannot hold aggro, and I wind up tanking regardless. So I am Drain Tank spec, and I keep the Succ out since she does the most damage. I am the tank, and I keep most of the aggro, so she doesn’t get beat up much. If you want to go really slow, you can get the VW to hold aggro and tank, but you won’t be able to kill as fast. With drain tanking, and practice, you can pull mobs as soon as you kill the last one, or faster.
In instances, she is useful for charming pats that get too close, etc. Just turn off her Soothing Kiss, it’s worthless. She isn’t going to pull aggro off of the tank. At your level her auto attacks will be about 25% of your dps, which is pretty big.
Simple rotation, send her in, throw a couple dots(Corruption/Drain LIfe), after a couple ticks, she will lose aggro(mobs usually at 50% hp), drain health to regain your mana, mob dies, repeat.

Thats actually what i ended up doing, even specced into improved succ… she holds aggro about the same as VW but offers high dmg and cc.
Now im just wondering if i want to spec further into demo so she does even more dmg, or go down the aff tree
I love affliction for leveling and grinding the mount-money. It’s just so efficient.
Idk, if you’re high enough I guess you could, but that extra health drained/shadow dmg talent helps a ton. You can pretty much stand there with an elite beating on you and hold your own. Of course I’m also stacking +shadow dmg gear.
drain tanking is weak in the early levels. The improved % of that drain life talent only amounts to +1, maybe +2 heals per tick, plus knock backs can defeat the purpose. Ive already respecced twice, once with improved VW and now with improve Succ.
I plan on just staying with the succ until 60, cost way too much to switch up now
