Define "gogogo mentality"

Whenever I read “gogogo mentality” it usually ends up being M+ blamed for such a thing, but this has been present in the game way before M+ was actually implemented.

‘Let’s rush the mobs’
‘Why are you standing there’
‘Zzzzzzz’
dps who can’t tank the mobs grabs them and pulls to tank

GoGo mentality has existed since the mid 60’s.

As a tank I’ve been chastised for only pulling half a room instead of a full room. As a rogue I was once chastised for sapping a healer mob prior to a pull.

I’d say those are good examples?

Sometimes it’s the healer doing this. They seem to time it with your Blood Boil/Thunderclap/other snap aggro being on cooldown.

You’re right about that. I say it started about Wrath, when we developed the “grab everything and AoE” behavior and CCs became a thing of the past, trying to find shortcuts around trash packs, etc. I think that mentality just spilled over and remained.

GOGOGO mentality has always been about being more focused on the completion of an activity and the rewards at the end, instead of the experience and fun of the activity.

When all of the “fun” comes from being done and moving on, versus doing the thing, you achieve GOGOGO.

The whole esports mentality that Blizz has been obsessed with hasn’t helped, as Dungeons become more about challenging speed runs than about an RPG dungeon. I think that dungeon design has gotta progressively worse in each expansion since Wrath. I don’t even do them anymore other than to complete the zone quest chains or any other associated quests. Running them even on Heroic isn’t what it used to be, nobody cares about being in them they just want to be done asap.

If blizz would make dungeons more of a challenge go go wouldnt be an issue

I will add one thing

This only became a thing when heirlooms were invented, DPS rushing things would get punted into the ground unless they overleveled the instance

And since dungeons were nerfed in general for the leveling instance, that’s the cause, I think

Oh no it’s been here since I started in Wrath. Usually a dps trying to push the group and pull extra mobs. When I healed I let them die and run back. Cata slowed them down a bit, Ozruk was a pug killer as was Corla.

I made a NE prot warrior and I love her. I have always been a bit protective of my friends and those around me. But if people gonna rush me, they gonna find I will not do that as a tank. I’m enjoying learning tank and I’ll be damned if anyone rushes me cause they are in a hurry.

If u don’t like that I hate being rushed, I guess I’m not the tank for you

I mean there are many types of players.

Some enjoy pushing the limit of the gameplay (how fast can i go? how big a dps can I have? etc.)
Mythic +
Arena
Rated BGs
Islands?

Some enjoy a difficult technical challenge
Raids
Mage Tower

Some enjoy the RPG aspects
World PvP
Warfronts
??

So I think blizzard is trying to address these different audiences through different content rather that address all audiences in all content.

That’s my attitude with my paladin. You’re free to rush ahead if you don’t mind dying.

A way to discredit people actually wanting to press buttons. People have always striven to do things better, stronger and faster. This is why we have hydraulics instead of using pullys. This basic human trait is lost on many though. The feeling is mutual though as I have no idea what is gained by stopping 2 minutes between pulls.

A mentality defined by impatient players who feel their time is more important than the rest of the party. If they’re DPS and the tank is being cautious rather than biting off more than they can chew, will go ham and just start pulling everything and soon accost the tank if a wipe happens and try to get the poor SOB kicked from the group. My philosophy os if you’re ina hurry it’s best to wait until you’re less pressed on time to run instances rather than be a speed fiend. Remember folks, unless there’s a bomb on the bus speed kills. :stuck_out_tongue:

One more thing,it encourages toxicity IMO and sadly drives good people away from the game, don’t be that toxic douchenozzle who thinks they can force a speed run because of asinine excuses.

You’re right. It was in the game long before m+. It’s just that m+ exacerbated it.

M+ is by definition a speed run. Don’t be that douchenozzle who joins an m+ and wants to dawdle and drag everyone down.

Ez. If you’re going too fast for me it’s toxic gogogo.

If you’re going too slow you’re a newbie

If you’re going just right… give me a minute I’ll think of something to complain about.

How many runs do you honestly have people complain in? Do you actually believe the sensationalism you’re spewing?

Its what inexperienced people call players who value their time.
Unfortunately, some people who look like they value their time dont know how to handle themselves and act like children.
But make no mistake. Its just the natural evolution of people expecting more and more from their play sessions and of themselves compounded by the ease of access things in 2019 general afford.
