I feel like this needs to be looked at going into Shadowlands. Many classes are limited in what they can use while carrying a flag while other classes, often more durable to begin with, seem unrestricted in what defensives they can use.
Hunters, for example, are unable to use Aspect of the Turtle or even Feign Death while carrying a flag. Compare this to a Druid, who as far as I can tell, has no restrictions whatsoever while carrying a flag. The gap between the two becomes even greater if the Druid is a Guardian or Resto.
I would like to see some attention focused on the restrictions, or lack thereof, imposed on classes while carrying a flag. I think it’s at least worth questioning the current state of restrictions such as whether use of Aspect of the Turtle should be allowed while carrying a flag, even if for a reduced duration, and whether or not a Resto Druid should have access to Bear Form while carrying a flag.
It’s not a damage immunity. You continue to take damage from any DoTs still ticking. And when it makes up the bulk of the defense of the class, yes, it is worth questioning.
Why would a Hunter preventing incoming damage for 4 seconds (reduced duration idea) be worse than a Resto Druid mitigating and outhealing all the damage you can throw at him for durations far longer than 4 seconds?
Don’t get me wrong, Holy and Prot Paladin definitely don’t need Divine Shield while carrying.
For the most part, the Druid DID things. He threw up a bunch of HoTs and went Bearform for the extra armor, 6% reduced dmg, and increased health to milk Ysera’s Gift. The fact that he also has access to Iron Fur and Frenzied Regen makes it even more effective and puts the Resto Druid that much more ahead of the Hunter.
You realize we’re talking about random BGs where the majority of players are content to just attack random dps in the middle of the map with no apparent knowledge of or will to play objectives, right? But this isn’t limited to flags as the same restrictions apply to carrying orbs in ToK.
Correct, the druid actively PvP’d. The hunter just pressed Turtle and spammed some emotes.
Listen, I know you wanna pop your Bubbles in random BGs while carrying the flag so you can feel like you did something, but it just isn’t gonna happen.
The rules are pretty consistent. If it’s an immunity, you can’t use it while holding the flag. If it’s not, you can.
You keep coming back to druid as though it would be okay to prevent use of bear form or rejuvenation with a flag. Neither of those are comparable to aspect of the turtle which, yes, is an immunity despite the fact that dots persist if they were applied before turtle.
Now teleport effects like transcendence on the other hand…
Maybe we should all just agree that carrying the flag should be a hindrance to ALL classes regardless of abilities.
Maybe actually remove all class abilities of the flag carrier making them solely reliant on their Teammates. You know, actually putting the TEAM back into a TEAM GAME.
Actually, that would be interesting as a brawl. All players get handicapped but one flag cap wins.
Well yes but that’s not equal to all classes. A Druid, DH, or Paladin can weather that far better then a cloth wearer.
Ideally, the flag should also have stat penalties as well. But realistically, I’d say it should cap a players overall abilities. Maybe causing abilities to have extended CDs, so no spamming moves.
