I’m not sure when this started but I’m going to guess it happened with 9.1.5 as I didn’t notice it in 9.1 and didn’t encounter this issue until now.
The issue, normally when using the Deepstone Oil potion it would freeze you in place. It could be used while doing an emote like /dance if you wanted to get a static pose. Now, if you use the potion while dancing, the animation is not frozen and you will continue to dance.
I did some testing with a friend and found that for other people, you still are frozen but on your end, it looks like you are still animating thus making getting freezeframe screenshots a bit of a pain.
And it’s not just an issue on my end, my friend said that when they used the potion they saw themselves still animating but on my end, they were frozen as they should be.
I’ve tried disabling all addons and the issue still persists too so I don’t think that is the problem.
Edit: After a little bit more testing, it seems like an intermittent issue, sometimes it will freeze but not permanently, the animation will start again and will sometimes re-freeze for a bit before starting again.

Such a weird change and definitely a decider for Me, on buying or not buying store mounts. it goes without saying, if I bought any mounts before the change; I wouldn’t be happy…

It’s really odd that more people haven’t really caught up to this useless change.
I don’t think it was an active change, at least there’s nothing I can find in any patch notes saying they changed it. I think its just a bug, they must have changed something somewhere that broke the deepstone oil.
Also speaking of it being broken, there is a bit of an update. I THOUGHT that it was only on the user of the oil’s end that the freezing was bugged. I thought it still worked 100% properly for other players. But last night I did some more testing and found that even for other people, me freezing my animations with the old would sometimes not work for them too and they would see me still animating even with the oil applied.
Just noting that is still happening - if you are mounted, your mount doesnt freeze, it actually keeps doing its movement, but turns green and you just cant move.
Would be nice if this was fixed.
I see no fix yet for this. Wondering if they have seen this post and have looked at the problem?
So I dunno where they heard this but a friend said that the change was done because some people did some exploit with the anima power toy (the one that has you grow really big) and the deepstone oil.
TBH, if that is the case, that is ****ing stupid. Nerf the new toy, not the old item that has been around since Cata.
