I can’t find where to turn in quests because the “new and improved” quest finder keeps telling me the quest requires me to enter the Deeprun Tram. There is nothing in there related to quest and it’s just annoying. I need a way to see the end game location to turn in the quest. I find I have to go to the internet to see what I used to see, which is where to turn the quest in.
sunday is tomorrow
(it’s sending you to ironforge or stormwind)
(and yes, the change to show travelling steps in quests is extremely obnoxious)
DUDE RIGHT
I hate this thing so much
I needed to turn in a quest in Stormwind, one of the “go talk to Anduin” ones. I was in boralus and wasn’t really paying attention (hard to watch subbed anime and pay attention to quest text tbh)
The quest told me to take the portal to ironforge, from there go to menathil harbor, take the boat to darnassus and then take that boat to stormwind
There is a portal to stormwind in boralus 5 feet from the ironforge portal.
It’s baffling
Took you a extra 10 min to go the long way, they will get your time played up one way or another.
It’s all they care about.
I imagine it’s for people who don’t read the quest text (any don’t) so they give you a step by step hand-holding help along.
Only thing I can think of is that it is the quickest way from SW to IF, unless you have a mage handy to do a portal.
(I do wish they had a way to disable the darned thing if you don’t want to use it.)
Yes, but the “order” is stupid.
I’ve been caught up, on a couple of those. Then later, noticed that there was a PORTAL TO IRONFORGE IN BOREALLUS! The quest suggested I take a portal to Stormwind, then take the deeprun tram…
The old fashioned way was actually faster, look for “how to get to ironforge from boreallus” on that web page thing in front of me, then see the most direct route.
I 100% agree. it was a bad change I have no idea why they did it.
I love it when it tells me that I have to go through the portal in my Garrison so I can take a flight path from Ashran.
Did…did you forget where he is?
The quest to go to Mt Hyjal?
It is a weird path, use the portal to IF, to use the tram to Stormwind to use the portal to Mt Hyjal.
5 extra minutes compared to just porting to Stormwind.
Guessing they conveniently based travel recommendations on the distance of the last leg from the tram exit to your destination. Not taking into account the travel time across IF, waiting for the tram, the time the tram takes.
Tin foil hat time…
If a million people fall for it once that’s 3472 extra days of engagement generated. Opps.
I didn’t read the quest text or information, just followed the map icon.
When I landed in ironforge it dawned on me that i’d never been sent there from Boralus afaik and I looked at what I was supposed to be doing and was perplexed.
I decided to see how deep the rabbit hole went
Understandable.
When I was brand-new to the game (and I don’t think this change had yet been implemented, but it wasn’t long after I started), I would look up how to get from A to B. Over time, the amount of research you do decreases as you understand how to navigate the world(s) of WoW.
After this change, I find I’m looking up every quest that has traveling instructions just to see where it ACTUALLY happens, because even if you read all the text, it doesn’t always tell you, and it most certainly does not always put a marker on the map where you need to END UP.
Who ever wrote the instructions has been confirmed as a highly successful troll.
Let’s just hope they never start giving directions for your GPS or Google Maps.
“In two hundred feet, turn right”
falls into the maelstrom
This was your mistake, and I think the whole thing is Blizz’s way of trying to get folks to start reading the text.
I always read the text. It told me to meet Magni in Mt. Hyjal. Yeah, there was some “optional” garbage about how to get there, to which I paid no attention. I just ported to Org and took the Cata portal to Hyjal.
Even worse they touted it as being helpful, useful and a QoL change.
Yet i constantly see “markers” telling me to go to another zone if I happen to have a quest in another zone.
Say you have a quest in silithus and you’re currently in Nazjatar. You’re going to see a map marker saying “return to boralus!”
It’s annoying is what it is. Now if they had it on the quest log, ie “here’s the route to get to your destination” that would be fine.
I look at it that it’s the quest “trolling” us. Like a drunk Garmin app.
