Deep wounds triple dipping? or bugged?

During Kel’thuzad on my Shaman, A warrior hit me while MCed. however, the deep wounds tick did more damage than the melee crits he did to me? is this bugged similar to how blade flurry did 15k damage when a rogue was mind controlled by the Prophet Skeram?

Chains of Kel’Thuzad

Charmed.
Damage increased by 200%.
Healing increased by 500%.
20 seconds remaining.

1400 damage tick every 3s, over 12s. 5600 total damage from deep wounds… makes me concerned for TBC classic wow with gurtogg’s fel rage damage buff.

Your critical strikes cause the opponent to bleed, dealing 60% of your melee weapon's average damage over 12 sec.

I think this bug is live on Era servers, and potentially concerning for the official Hardcore release.

Check out this death clip:

A warrior is mind controlled, makes the following attacks on another player:

  • Hit for 305
  • Crit for 1448
  • Crushing Blow for 1064

A Deep Wounds DoT begins ticking for 1270. It ticks 4 times (the last one kills him), for a total of 5080 damage. The last tick kills the other player.

I was the tank in the clip Croissant posted.
Tried figuring out the calculation on that deep wound damage but something definitely seems broken. Perhaps someone can help figure out the math on this?

Apparently Boss’ Mind Control abilities cause Deep Wounds to to “double dip” and also apply the Mind control’s 400% damage to deep wound damage… but even then the math doesn’t add up.

Not sure which weapon the DPS warrior is using but lets use Trash blade as an example as its an extremely common choice pre lvl 60:
On my warrior with 204 strength: 176-235 damage = 205 average damage.

400% damage from MC buff:
205x4 = 820 avr weapon damage.

Deep Wound (Your critical strikes cause the opponent to bleed, dealing 60% of your melee weapon’s average damage over 12 sec):
60% of 820 = 492

Deep wounds double dipping 400% again:
492x4 = 1968 damage over 12 seconds. Deep wound ticks every 3 seconds should then be: 1968 / 4 = 492dmg per tick

A far cry from the 1270dmg/tick observed. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
