Deep Sub good for early dungeons?

How good is deep sub or hemo in classic? The improved Sap, stealth, extra CD reset, and spamming hemo as compared to sinister strike?

My IRL buddies are mostly melee and lack alot of good CC. I was thinking of suggesting the rogue have some fun as subtlety for a little before he goes combat for raids. Also on a PVP server so any advice would be helpful. Should he get cold blood or go for premeditation?

It’s not good.

However, dungeon’s aren’t tuned for perfectly specced toons doing perfect rotations so you should be fine.

Think about it this way, you would need gear to make up for +5 weapon skill and +5 hit and +5 crit or extra hit. How much agi/ap are you giving up to get that? There’s also no way to offset the lost oh +50% dmg. Most your dmg is white dmg in pve.

Isn’t the improved sap pretty handy for difficult pulls in dungeons like scholomance or ubrs? Also doesn’t hemo benefit other classes like a fury warrior or feral?

It’s taking up a debuff slot and it’s not worth it.

You don’t really need CC in any of the 5 mans and maybe 1 sheep on a couple of pulls in UBRS.

Hemo is a pvp spec.

CC just isn’t needed and giving up Blade Flurry is a lot of giving up to do.

Everything you’re giving up is not worth a 90% chance that SAP will return you to stealth.

Based on questions in and their order.

  1. I like sub hemo. More of a PVP build. Can do well vs low armor targets. Have bleeds for heavy armor. I dig utility over pure damage.
  2. All those you mention do nothing in PVE, so sinister strike (with combat talents) can do a lot.
  3. you saying you suggesting for someone else? or your rogue? Let them play what they want. Sub is fun in solo and pvp. In 5 mans, you can do decent and do well with CC / utility. But like raiding…if that is not needed from you…then maxing your damage is the best thing.
  4. for pvp and mentioned else where in here…from what I hear, you need the gear to pull of Assassination. Prep is great for an “oh crap” button to help reset things. But if you dont need to reset, it is a wasted talent. Swords is boring / crap for me in PVP.
