Deep affliction?

Back in vanilla I played deep affliction and had no issues destroying classes like rogues in pvp. (As i hear rogues hard counter locks)

But since this was 15 years ago, i wanted to get perspective from the community. I know that the common theme for lock play is DS/ruin SM/ruin, but what about deep affy? Can anyone enlighten me?

Thanks

Deep affliction is really good in large scale PvP if you aren’t getting focused and can free cast. It’s great for leveling as well. PvE it falls short due to the debuff limit on bosses.

Always felt like affy has more control than the other “specs”. Death coil, (spell: improved curse) curse of exhaustion on rogues pretty much ensured they died if they didnt finish me off in opener. I cant remember off the top of my head but i believe if talented, howl of terror was instant, no?

Plus felhunter inv detect and self buff + perception made me see rogues from insane distances.

it wasn’t instant when talented; in fact, there wasn’t an improved howl of terror talent

Thanks! Couldnt remember, it became instant in later expansions but i didn’t remember if in classic or not!

I remember rogues could never get the jump on me unless they were stealth to begin with and i didnt see them go stealth
