Declined for keys as DPS with 240 item level

How exactly does a DPS gear up these days when normal raids want 250 item level and it’s difficult to get into +2’s with a mythic item level. Over 80% the group finder are people that are already doing keys too high for players like myself.

If I make my own key, I’m waiting forever for a tank or healer and the group falls apart before making it into the dungeon. It’s not entirely Blizzards’s fault but it is a problem that they can fix.

Nerf normal raiding for casuals so that people like myself can get into them and start gearing up. Spent almost 2 hours in the group finder applying for keys and I’m frustrated.

Start your own group and you can invite anyone you want, it’s really that easy.

make some tank or healer friends, or make your own tank or healer.

Or, at the end of the day, when all else fails, there is an old tried and true method that works and has always worked in this genre of game…

join a guild and do group content with dedicated groups of friends and guildies

Also nerf the rewards.

I mean that’s easy. Just be 260+…duh.

it wont work, OP. we know from gearscore days that players would just ask for higher ilvl.

if the average grows so will the requirements.

Just get higher than 240 ilvl

problem solved

You can do Zereth Mortis content, upgrade your console until and get 252 gear then try making your own groups again. I don’t know what else to suggest :frowning: I’ve had issues with my alts too but it’s what it is.

You can also check the Communities forums here, there are some M+ ones.

I can get groups if my friends are on and they play a tank. But a lot of my friends don’t play as much

If you want any control over M+, you have to make your own groups. It’s that simple. It’s the hard truth.

You can invite whoever you want, you can ask to make sure they’re not jerks, set your expectations up front.

Best thing about +2s is that you can’t hurt your key if they bail on you.

You can get 252 iLVL from world content, add in 2 x 262 leggos, than a 262 crafted piece and you would be closer to 250, that will help. Otherwise you need to find a guild or a community who will take the lower iLVL/rating players, there really is nothing that Blizzard can do, if players don’t want to tank or heal than no one is going to change that.

Even in my guild some days we struggle to find a tank or healer and I can do both so we sit there not able to run keys.

It’s not hard to read, OP said they were also trying their own key but could never find tanks or healers.

Funny thing is that my other 4 toons are tanks or healers. It’s the one pure DPS that is hardest to do any keys on.

My healer is already doing 8’s meanwhile my DPS with similar item level can’t get into 2’s

You’re a lvl10 lock. What do you expect,

This here :arrow_up_small: is how I did it. I also got a 257 or 259? Chest off the ZM world boss and there is the Legendary Belt for free which is decently high. I just need an OH weapon and General Zara won’t give me my rogue dagger!

Blizzard isn’t the one making the groups and declining you. Gear gating by the community has been done as far back as WotLK, where Gear Score was used. Blizzard can change the metrics, but the community will just use a new one.

Yea but there’s an obvious tank and healer shortage

Unless they give us AI dungeons/raids that is going to always be an issue. It does not help that the learning curve to play those classes, and the expectations on them, can be overwhelming for some.

Your gear level though is easy enough to get to 250 just with ZM content.

Well ZM world quests give 252 ilvl gear at max cyphers and they start at 249? That and sandworn relic gear. Or just do low keys 2-5 range?

That’s the problem. These keys have over qualified applicants

I think you should take advantage of all these overqualified applicants! By making your own group and inviting crazies, you can get quick 2s-5s done and delevel in oribos to keep the keys coming. There’s always a spot for you in your own group!

Omg :exploding_head:

Easy solution, just make your own group! J/k…I couldn’t resist. In all seriousness, it sucks trying to pug as a dps player. It’s hard enough to get into groups when you check off all the criteria but being at WQ ilvl is pretty much the bare minimum requirement before you will even be considered.

Your best bet are the following options:

  1. guild
  2. friends
  3. raise your ilvl to at LEAST wq level (255ish with the legendaries?)

After that you just mass apply and you will eventually get invited, but your biggest problem is your ilvl in my opinion. At 240 ilvl you are going to be among the lowest ilvl that is applying.

I’m over geared for low keys but i’ll join your group as a healer if you list your key.
