Decided to try tanking again

Bringing back my old warrior and haven’t tanked for years but here goes.

I am oldschool as in I go when my healers ready and “if the dps pulls it they tank it” mindset.

Wish me luck.

Just don’t.

Such an awful mindset that just makes the run even more scuffed by allowing the DPS to cause chaos instead of hitting literally 1 button to bring it under control. Same as healers who will stop healing people who stand in bad. No. Do your job.

I understand it’s frustrating when a DPS thinks they need to pull for you, I understand it’s rude. Pick it up anyway. Tell them to stop in instance chat afterward. Votekick if it’s queued content and they don’t stop. Leave if it’s M+ and they don’t stop.

Fair point.

I do suppose things have changed.

I come from the “huntard” era lol.

Usually this is the excuse tanks use when they can’t hold aggro

You’d be surprised.

I have had multiple instances tanking where the DPS pulls before I can even hit a button and it’s usually the same person doing it all instance.

I havent had any issues so far with groups. Few wipes but we wait for healer to drink if they have to and people dont purposely pull.

Im dps btw but only 1 time i ran a m0 where our dps was starting to get rude cause he was impatient cause the other people didnt know how to bypass the adds on the last boss. Other then that it seems more relaxed then before imo

I hope this is my experience lol.

The last time I tanked, was on my Warrior in BC Karazhan. That killed it for me for a long time. Last week, I rolled a HM Tauren as a tank and having a good time. I set the pace of the run and people are mostly fine with it. There have been hiccups, of course, but nothing bad.

As for DPS pulling, if they bring it to me, I’ll try to grab them. I only had one instance where a DPS went hog wild and complain. My warrior is 53 now, and I slowly trudging along.

Quits tanking in 5…4…3…2…1

That mindset makes you one of the worst tanks/players to group with. If you’re trying to clear some content, how does letting a dps die because they accidentally pull contribute to that goal?

tanks havent had issues with aggro since TBC… try again.

That’s not trie

it is true… try again.

if a dps has threat on the mob, it is 100% because they pulled it themselves without the tank.

Plenty of time since tbc tanks have had aggro issues are you new

tanks in wotlk got a 500% increase to threat… try again

stop trying to make excuses for yourself ninja pulling mobs accidentally

How many expansions have there been since then stop trolling

first, you do this, ok?

Google tank threat issues in the past then get back to me until then it’s been real cap

stop ninja pulling mobs in dungeons and pretending that it’s a tank threat issue when it’s a " Ijilijil can’t watch where they walk" issue.

I can’t even take you seriously read it and weep

CATACLYSM: TANKING GETS VENGEANCE PASSIVE

Posted by Medievaldragon | Dec 2, 2010 | World of Warcraft News | 0 |

Ghostcrawler explained the new Tanking Threat mechanic for World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. All Tanks, regardless of class, automatically gain a new passive skill named Vengeance which solves a basic issue developers have found from time to time. Vengeance now scales threat as the Tank improves gear.

This prevents DPS players who also scale up damage from out-threating the Tank. (Bet the built-in spellchecker went nuts with that one). However, Vengeance won’t completely solve the threat problem. Tanks still need to generate threat the normal way, and not sleep in their laurels. Especially in the initial six seconds after engaging a mob or boss.

The new Vengeance mechanic, while not a complete solution to threat issues, offers better encounter experience without the random burst of sudden wipes. You know … those who are usually blamed on the healers or Tanks.

Blizzard Quote:
A very nice paladin player asked me recently about Vengeance. She had concerns about the mechanic, which made me realize that we haven’t done the best job of explaining to players exactly what Vengeance is supposed
