Numbers might look off from Twist of Fate, Focused Mending, Divine Service, Benediction Renews applying the Renewed Faith bonus, and set bonus.
When accounting for all of those Oracle did almost exactly 25% more, so I don’t think there’s any complicated interaction here. they just haven’t changed the PoM bonus on Preventive Measures. Not yet anyway.
Yeah, that explains it actually, I forgot divine service, and if it’s multiplicative that number inconsistency makes some sense (though I’m seeing about 1% higher than I’d expect).
Could you link this renew focused oracle build?
I’m not in the 10s yet, still working on getting all 8s, haven’t tried Oracle in months, would like to again
Disclaimer This is almost certainly not the best oracle build - I just really wanted to play renew focused and get lasting words in the build. I figured it would be kinda a meme, but it turned out to work well despite all my groups but one having no dispels for the affix, lol.
The best oracle build is still probably a lightweaver build, just with Lightwell included, and some manual cast renews (to keep up renewed faith).
I ran this:
Note - I am rocking a decent chunk of haste/crit. You can alter this a bit to get Resonant/Trail if struggling, like this:
But I was finding that Renew basically made up for lacking Trail of Light. ALSO FWIW, Desperate times is like almost certainly better than Prismatic Echoes in my build lol
My gameplan was basically:
Renew used off cooldown - preferably on anyone that doesn’t have empowered renew and might take damage, then the tank, then anyone that’s taken light damage.
A somewhat important part of playing this is that you want to try and extend the Empowered Renew HoTs out there with Lasting Words. Lightwell will ALSO help with this though, and when it’s out and healing you generally won’t have to care about extensions.
I’m PLANNING on making a weakaura to track who has an empowered renew still - since generally you’re going to add to the duration with your holy words, so you can keep them running a pretty long time.
PoM used off cooldown so long as there’s a Naaru out from Divine Image (and there should be - you should be leading most pulls with Chastise + Holy Fires).
Lightwell off cooldown unless I know a tough pack or boss is coming, then hold.
When I hit insight, alternate Renew>PoM/Holy Fire/Holy Word of Choice>Renew for coverage.
In difficult AoE damage (or just difficult damage) situations pop Hymn or Apoth and spam. You also have Premonition of Piety, and when you pop that you can immediately hit yourself with the free heal/serenity to cleave to the group.
Personally never ran into spots where I needed to double up on a piety + Apotheosis or hymn, but note that you CAN do that if the damage is major.
Other than that, basic Holy priest stuff. Lots of Flash heals, make sure to use your free instant heal after using a premonition. Shadowfiend for mana (though it also does do pretty OK healing when it’s out). Fade/DP when things target you. Chastise and holy fire for damage, Smite when you can, Holy nova with rhapsody stacks or in order to move and get chasise cooldown, etc.
Test it out for us. Run a few with both builds and give us that juicy intel.
I didn’t think it would be a meme build. Was running something similar last night and it felt good once I got used to it. Hardest part is just adjusting muscle memory. For example I kept trying to hard cast Heal like I still had Lightweaver.
Desperate Times is probably the best ability in the game to pair with S2 set. I would guess it trumps Echoes by a decent margin.
I tried it again. My output is just nowhere near what I can do with Archon. The premonitions are clunky to play around. I’m completely unable to utilize them for anything other than their instant cast PoH. I don’t know what premonition I’m currently on or what I should be casting at any given time to maximize its output.
I have a LFR log that I need to upload for Oracle compared to the Archon run I did last night to see what’s going on for sure.
You’re just not comfortable with the spec yet and not playing it to its fullest. For example, the first premonition let’s spam PoM to get lots of applications via Twinsight. Halo just does a lot with one button push, so much easier. Just practice oracle and the numbers should get better.
Checked Preventive Measures again today. There was a period last night where it said 40% bonus on PoM but it was actually still 25%. It now appears to actually increase PoM by 40% as advertised.
Lasting Words still doesn’t appear to be gaining the correct 40% from Preemptive Care.
FWIW here, I basically had a weakaura that I was using early on with Oracle (I was playing Disc though - just kept that knowledge going on Holy) that reminded me what buff I had. I learned the icons in a couple days though and turned that weakaura off because it just cluttered the screen.
Oracle pretty much has to make use of Premonition to do well, and that means often you’re using it with an intention. This isn’t as true of Archon, since it buffs your apoth regardless of whether you’re in it or not, and halo is pretty fire and forget healing. Also a very underrated aspect of Archon is that it juices up all Surge of Light procs while also giving you free procs - and that is WAY more healing than most give it credit.
Insight is the only one where you’re going to have to do anything to maximize your HPS. For Piety - sure, there’s a gimmick where you wings yourself and self heal to cleave, and while that healing IS strong, it’s not necessary. Piety already gives you just a 30% multiplicative healing boost and overhealing gets spilled over onto other party members, so it’s just very strong to have running. Solace is just a defensive. 90% of the time I’m just healing myself with Solace up.
Yeah I’m gonna report this one as a bug, too. Realistically it hasn’t bothered me that much because it’s only a couple seconds, but still should be fixed.
