Debate: New zone "seems lacking" because we can fly

I’m going to throw this out there, but the new zone is actually pretty nice with a town and a faction. It seems dull to some people because we can just fly all over it and lack immersion. In fact we can fly super fast with dragons. Perhaps blizzard was right about not flying in new patches?

I use to subscribe to blaming flight on bypassing the world below, but unfortunately, Pathfinding was an alternative that was the absolute worst idea to try to get people on the ground.

So having something like Dragonriding readily available to get around is a godsend in response to Pathfinding.

Basically, they need to have things to want to be on the ground for. Not force people to be on the ground. Give people reasons to want to run around on the ground, not punish them by grounding them with something like Pathfinder.

But there is no sense of place. I have to keep looking at the map to realize where I am. In 6 seconds I’m halfway across the zone. Following rares is just a rush of stalagtites.

I don’t really feel that way. I like getting from point A to point B and doing what I want to do. If I want to stop and smell the roses, my ground mounts still work just fine.

I mean, the option is still there. Try it out and see if you feel the same way about the zone. I used my ground mounts a lot while questing, just not for the longer travelling distances.

I did, it was actually the snail quest that got me thinking about it. I’m doing a comparison on all ground mount with my alt.

Well you are always welcome to travel around on the ground.

I think it’s just fine and feel just as immersed as ever.

Counterpoint, i dont ever want to not fly.

Ground mount for your immersion

Yes, me too, but look at all the people who don’t. I think that may be part of why.

Has Anyone even alluded to that besides you?

You’re trying to fit a rectangle into a hole

There are people who are negative about everything. Blizz can’t please everyone. Those people are also free to travel on the ground. Maybe get a guild together and all stick to going slower.

the new zone IMO is very lovely. they managed to fit a good bit of biome variation in just the small area we got. I actually think it might have been getting close to immersive if we had to run around on the ground, since the mob density (save for the calderra glad I can fly there) is actually reasonable

It’s the best x.1 zone since, well, a while. At least map-wise.

New zone is lacking because its boring. Its more mind numbing currency grinds and rep grinds. Its nothing new or fun. Flying makes it go by faster.

It lacks purpose. Especially if you’re already geared. It’s not that we’re flying over content, there’s just not a lot to get. And what we can get is pretty well time gated.

And we just got out of forbidden reach which offered similar gear much easier in a much more straight forward way, so the already geared situation applies to a lot of toons. And next week when M+ opens it will completely obsolete the content.

It find it it uninteresting because I can’t bring myself to care about the mole people or their plight.

Also the “collect fragment to turn into other fragments and combine with other fragments that you combined from other fragments” is just unnecessarily convoluted.

no ones stopping you from using ground mounts.

I agree OP

It is a giant cave with that is very poorly designed for a MMO zone. Feels like a bunch of interns built it.

the new zone is lacking because there is little to do. Hardly any quests and the rare spawn rate is low.
