No, because we use empowered garrotes from stealth to spread dots. The whole thing is honestly just a mess without subterfuge being baseline for assassination.

Each time you garrote a new or previous target, you reset Deathstalkers Mark. That would be even worse.
Deathstalker just doesnât play to the traditional multi target opener. Players will have to adapt to it or play something else. Iâm ok with it because I donât do M+ and in raids I donât care about trash pulls.

I think you missed the point.
The biggest complaint about Deathstalker is not being able to open on multiple targets with Garrote. My point is, not every talent has to be optimal for all content. If M+ is your thing, then Dealthstalker probably wonât be your first choice.
Players will find a spec/build that suits them best for the content they enjoy and will adapt to it. Thatâs what we always do.

It would have been the first choice for sin had they not been lazy when designing the tree. The marks themselves arent the issue. Its the tree as a whole.
I honestly never open up from Stealth using anything except ambush. Them combo points are tasty (and I donât use the talent to make Garrote give more combo points).
I donât see how thatâs an issue, youâre not really going to start spending your Deathstalkerâs Marks until after youâve spread your garrotes anyways.
Yeah this is bad game design. Deathstalker forces an ability into the rotation that doesnât naturally fit there and actively interferes with Garrote and Rupture in multi target scenarios. Itâs such a janky ability for being the core of an entire hero talent tree.
Youâd want to Ambush, Garrote, Rupture, Garrote, Garrote, Rupture. If you just spam garrotes on your aoe pulls youâre overcapping combo points twice just in the opener and wasting lots of free damage that would have been funneled into the priority target.
If garrote applied marks and you just garrote spam, all of the funnel damage is going to spread haphazardly until the subterfuge buff wore off and the mark finally settles and you start actually doing finishers. That would be abysmal.

Easy fix. Make it so that Deathstalkerâs Mark applies only to the first target you engage after entering stealth. Boom. Make me a dev.
exactly this, change it so first ambush or mutilate applies it so youâre not bound by pressing it as your first global. this is honestly dogshid design in pvp, the amount of micro cc you face is wild. garrote/cheap shot opener is way more important
Make it trigger from any combo point generating ability used from stealth. That would make it useful in all situations.
The first boss in city of threads is a good example of why all rogue specs should have baseline subterfuge.
Honestly this expansion Rogues need a lot of things baseline to function properly.
Auto SND was a good quality of life change but really that should have been the starting point to more changes.
Basline subterfuge is an idea i did not think id support, but when the stealth class cant even use its empowered stealth abilities in a lot of encounters, then yes its mandatory. Should def be made baseline (even if its just 2 seconds as opposed to 3-6)
it would also be nice to have dispell protection in pvp, its very annoying being forced to take coin against any pally comp because bubble/bop remove it. same with ice block.

also make the restack mechanic proc off of any damaging finisher, in pvp its not a priority to envenom and i cant count the amount of times i needed to rupture or kidney but had to prioritize envenom to keep mark up. meanwhile coin procs off SnD and every other finisher lmao
