Or, change the Mark to a Buff. Where a “Deathstalker” Buff is applied to the player at three stacks. The buff can add some stats, Using 3 +5 or higher combo point spending abilities removes a stack, and has the same damage bonus modifiers.
It can have the exact gameplay, but it is lest restrictive on swapping targets in a M+ Scenario. Also it would probably be a lot easier manage as well. It always goes 3,2,1, Darkest Night, Reapply. Easy to track, easy to manage, easy to target swap.
I do not disagree with the idea, but I feel blizz will stick with the debuff approach. Making the debuff easier to apply would be the path of least resistance (not saying best approach at all).
A key example is singular focus. I don’t think they couldn’t code a way for it to focus your target, but with how easily that is changed, it may be really hard. A debuff based system with an easier way to swap the debuff would in general be healthier, if not the best, solution for deathstalker. If the application is made significantly easier, say next builder on unmarked target, I do not think it would be very bad, especially since caustic operates in a similar manner.

From what I’ve seen in the last couple of days, it now appears that Echoing Reprimand finishers will now expend a charge of the Mark, and Echoing Reprimand with Envenom will apply Deathstalker’s Mark when applicable (i.e. the Darkest Night buff is active).
So that’s something, at least.

I love this idea. It would help keep up momentum in PvP and PvE.
