Deathspike legendary clarification request

I have never posted or commented on the general forums but I feel the way the rogue necro legendary deathspike works currently (or doesn’t work?) would benefit from some clarification. After the recent serrated bone spike bug fixes, original SBS’s will refund a charge but the additional one from the legendary will not. Is this intended or not? I am not aware of any official post clarifying this and I am a frequent visitor of the ravenholdt discord and many high profile rogues don’t seem to know either. I think the rogue community assumes this is a bug and that both spikes from the legendary should refund but we really just dont know. I will give an example as to why the legendary appears to be bugged regardless of the intended effect of the secondary spike below.

Lets say there are three targets A B and C and I bonespike A with the deathspike legendary and the additional spike hits target B. Now there are two bonespikes on 2 of 3 targets and ive used one charge. If all three targets die I will only get 1 refund regardless of how many chargers out of 5 I currently have. Now if I bonespike A and B separately several things can happen. Lets say I bonespike A and it hits B and then I bonespike B and it hits A I will still only get 1 refund because the secondary bonespike from B that hits A will overwrite the original bonespike I threw to A. So now I used two separate charges on two out of three mobs and once they all die I will still only get 1 refund. The reason why this is weird is if the secondary bonespike from the 2nd throw had hit target C instead of A I would get 2 refunds. I find this to be very counterintuitive and as someone who likes to push relatively high keys its not fun to try and keep track of the original vs. secondary bone spikes during combat to try and minimize the loss of refunds based on this weird overwriting effect. I am not asking for an immediate fix but it would be nice to get some clarification so I can temper my expectations and if I should use cinders on this or celerity to push high keys. I love the deathspike legendary and it has so much potential and I really just want to understand how it works and try to help fix it.

Another reason why I think the secondary spike is not working as intended is this… if you have 1-3 charges and you throw a SBS with the deathspike leggo and it one shots 2 mobs you will get 2 refunds. It appears if the mobs live long enough for the dot to tick that is when you will no longer get a refund on the secondary spike. You can try this easily by doing layer 1 of thorghast and just oneshotting a bunch of low health mobs after spending all ur charges on the last boss

I am venthyr rogue. And I kinda wanted to swap to Necro just for the new lego :smiley: but seeing all “broken” comments, not sure I am willing to undergo the torment of redoing my covenant.
