Deaths instead of timer. Yay or nay?

At the level where this would matter, timing the key is the reward. Nobody is doing 13s or 14s or whatever because they care about EOD loot or whatever.

I can see it now. Stonevault. Pull everything up until the first boss minus the two golems. Wipe? Go again. Wipe? Go again. Wipe? Go again.

So the gameplay relevant for 99% of people should be held hostage for 1%.

Get real. Also what you are saying already happens.

But I’ll wait, when they eventually do something similar to what I suggested or literally identical I’ll wait around for the naysayers to admit I was right as it usually happens.

Then I’ll do the I told you so dance.

Gameplay isn’t held hostage. It’s endgame content. It has a fail state. M+ still gives rewards on a failure. Legitimately what more do you want? Full rewards and no depletion?

WoW Developers, We dont mind the timer just keep the keys from depletion if not made on time would make the whole Mythic Plus Experience less toxic in most groups. That is all that needs to be changed and it has been askded for many times.

Welcome to 4 tank 1 healer meta if this goes ahead (and only the tankiest healer mind, can’t have squishy healers depleting keys).

Fair.

I could maybe see boss enrage mechanics combined with active adds that came looking for you, so sitting around wasn’t an option. The way you would expect in an enemy stronghold. Gauntlet after every boss. :slightly_smiling_face:

The timer is a much better way of making M+ even and fair. Different classes (rogues, mages) tend to die more than others and I don’t think a death counter whether it be group or individual would be or could be balanced. It would also put EVEN MORE onus on healers to keep everyone alive. It would foster lower DPS and much more defensive and honestly boring gameplay. It’s a big F. An F minus.

It’s a nice idea that I hope goes through.
It’d be even nicer to not penalize anything at all, let scaling do its job, and scale faster.
It’d definitely make M+ more interesting again.

I hate timers/time limits in games.
They should be relegated to challenge modes, with set conditions (in WoW’s case, fixed ilvl/stats/spec composition).

To the “AFK and wait for CDs” crowd, make all long CDs only usable once.
How long? That’s on Blizzard. I’d say anything above 1 minute.

I’d rather they keep the timer, and re-work Peril into a death cap.

Soo… add enrage mechanics to dungeon bosses? Im good with that as well.

But then you end up with pre-nerf Stitchflesh.

you get one peice of champ gear per delve with a small chance ofa hero peice if you got lucky with a map i dont rrecall us having only 3 gear slots? also you can also get full FULL 619 off a single normal run or +2s. do a plus 3 and you get a heroic vault are you going to argue a m+ 3 is at the level of heroic gearr aswell? 619 is ez to get from WAY more then delves esp with the 20th event going on your on some mondo cope if you think delves are even a considertion

aslo ffs if your taking weeks opon weesk to get geargd by that annd yet somhow its also some massive sisue invading m+ isk man might need to try that math again id really hope youd be able to get 619 in weeks considering its already doable in a day on a fresh 80 jsut complelty irrelvent to m+ and its issues

Im guaranteed a hero track piece of gear for 20 minutes of played time a week.

Im also guaranteed gear per key. I can walk away with 5-6 pieces of gear in a little over an hour. Fastest jump start in the game as well.

I personally hate timers, makes me too anxious, ill take a death counter everytime

How about both?
When you put in your key you get to choose if you want the run to be by deaths or by time?
If you select by deaths, then you are only allowed 2 charges of bloodlust, which has its standard CD.

Then as an added quality of life at Keystone Level 10, the key can no longer de-rank. You can re-roll the key after failing either the timer or the deaths, by completing the key and talking to the person at the end.

Having the option to have both, as well as a quality of life for those high key pusher types, seems like wins all around.

Do think there needed to be some bare minimum timer or some kind of wiping mechanic to prevent blood DK cheese, if the death counter is to be adopted.

Better system IMO. If people want to wait for 5/10m CDs and spend four hours on one dungeon, that’s their business.

I play with a ton of casuals that actually love running keys. Delves aren’t why they stopped. They stopped because of the squish. End of story. They would all happily return to keys if that was fixed.
