Is there any other class that can lose 80% of of their HP instantly and then death strike up to full hp?

DS isn’t that great since it’s on the 5 sec rule for DPS

Blood? Necessary, otherwise bone shield is not an equivalent to a strong active mitigation like Prot War/Pally possess. Most of the time, DS only heals back 20% of damage done.
Unholy? Yeah, I pretty much own face and heal myself right back to full. Though if you kite me, I’m screwed, so I’m not seeing an issue unless you enjoy going toe to toe with a walking bubonic plague juggernaut…

why are you dancing around the fact that its possible for one class to drop a heavily armored juggernaut class by 80% of their HP instantly? thats the kind of crap that needs to be nerfed, our self healing is easily outplayed if you know what you are doing.

Except that’s a false statement DK currently has one of the lowest Armor of all Tanks in the game. The key reason for this is over time so many iterations and changes to the key element that provided the increase in Armor values. It was Blood Presence which was changed to Veteran of the Third War.
Both Blood Presence and Veteran of the Third War provided both Health % increases and Armor % increases. The main reason the DeathKnight had these was to allow them to function appropriately in all forms of the game. The health increase allowed for the DK just like a Druid’s health increase in bear form such that they could take various massive tank based mechanics as required. At all time they have both a Health increase and an Armor increase. The armor increase was to smooth out the rollercoaster damage which made it hard to function correctly. The armor increase didn’t prevent the damage taken but it did provide a passive mitigation increase much like a fixed block value of sorts not having a shield etc.
The Armor increase on Veteran of the Third War was removed completely for the first time ever in game the Blood DK has always had the Health increase with the Armor increase and now all that the DK has is the Stamina increase and even that was been HEAVILY reduced - 60% Stamina down to 10% Stamina since 8.0.1 to 8.1.5
To counter that reduction in both health and armor the DK needs that healing to COMPENSATE for the now much spikey damage and increased damage taken with the lower mitigation value based on a very low armor value.
Consider that in most cases DPS Warrior, Paladins and even a Warlock wearing cloth has higher armor now in game than Blood DK’s at the same ilvls
some time in 8.0.1 vet had stam at 50% and armor by 20% and by the next build it changes to stam 60% armor 15%. in 8.1.0 they dropped the armor and through various 8.1 builds they nerf’d the stam to 10%
blood presence and the other two returning would help alot
i was talking class theme in general, not specifics or VotW. OP is talking about pvp, which means he’s likely complaining about unholy or even frost. run with stoneskin gargoyle and a ton of vers and you will certainly get the juggernaut vibes from the class.
Uhhh… ds is effected by dampening, so yeah it’s great until your match has gone on for a few minutes. Fury warrior and Monk also have amazing self heals. If your problem is that your gimmicky one shot macro from MM didn’t kill the DK in the opener and he healed up on you, that’s a problem with your class and not DK.
All of you guys are wrong about veteran. Yes the armor was removed which sucks and was lowered to 10% stamina, but this is now made baseline to all three specs. Blood also has a passive that brings the stamina buff back up 60%.
This is a Stam buff to DK dps and an armor nerf only for blood.
Um no VoTW was made a Blood only passive during Mists of Pandaria and has been that way since then.
I think you’re confusing the changes that were made to ‘DEATH STRIKE’ or ‘DS’ for short which was changed to provide increased healing to Frost and Unholy to counter the lack of survivability that was so blatently evident when a all other classes could out heal and out dps the DK’s due to low mobility on top of low self healing. Consider that a Survival hunter passively heals 1% of the Maximum Health every 5 second effected by their Mastery score while the DK gets to use a Strike that firstly has to hit and if misses it actually now heals but only for a tiny amount and that DK can if they aren’t kited get a maximum of 3 Death Strikes in the same window that Hunter would heal almost twice the amount of health that the DK recovered using 3 strikes. The only time this changes is when Dark Succor procs from a kill you used to be able to use critters to get the Dark Succor proc but that was fixed so provided no ones dies when the DK has damage on them then you wont see that buff.
Unless you’re just looking at him while he’s DS to full HP. Never had that issue. The moment I see that HP bar start to go up, I stun and burst him down.
Dps DKs did get the death strike buff, but they also got 10% more stamina from VotW in 8.1
Paladins can instant heal their entire health pool. Hunters can heal half their hp. DKs can only heal up to a percentage of damage received with a minimum of 7%. I wouldn’t call that broken. Plus, if you are a hunter, you shouldn’t have problems kiting is at all.

They brought it back for all specs to help deal with surivavbility issues we were having BFA pvp season 1. Unholy and frost only get 10% stam (no armor bonus).
Thanks I didn’t notice that update but you’re right that being said Blood doesn’t get an armor bonus from VoTW either now it’s only Stamina for all three spec’s of DK.
i think pally has that huge heal that can go from 1 to full. its a long cooldown, but unless it was removed

In addition they have other abilities which provide increased healing effects as well as the fact they can cast actual healing spells as well.
