I recently posted on here about the Season 2 Elite set being exclusive to the pro PvP players which I found rather disappointing.
Someone then directed me to a recolor of the elite set so I attempted to look into acquiring the set and realize it’s just as difficult and time consuming as the elite set for PvP.
I completed the Rares in Darkshore and was asking around when they would reset so I can attempt to get the pieces of gear again. And people were saying every two weeks when the faction gains recontrol of the warfront.
After my first attempt clearing “EVERY” rare in the zone and getting nothing at all to hear that I can only attempt this two times a month for a chance to get 0-1 pieces a month because RNG on these items is less than 1%?
Please somebody tell me this is just some kind of joke or not the case at all I am really losing my cool over this and this is very frustrating.
Example getting the Frostscythe (finally) on a character that can’t even equip the thing so I don’t get the appearance.
I genuinely don’t find the methods based on RNG especially for over 20 pieces of gear or items fun or enjoyable.

It doesn’t come from the rares. It comes from the once-per-cycle quest to win a warfront.

They do come from the rares the “Deathguard” set is in the lootpool
Getting it through Elite versions from high rated PvP doesn’t require luck at all, just dedication and skill.
We aren’t expected to just be able to get everything “because it’s cool” and that’s just the reality of it.
I believe what Bluster is saying, is those drop varieties are for the “normal version” of the warfront gear, the elite version as far as I’m aware only comes from the once per warfront quest.
A good example is the bird helm for clothies which I was lucky enough to get the other day.
The one from the rares is the open-faced version of the helm, whereas the warfront quest reward is the enclosed bird mask (old apothecary looking one)

grind BG’s for crappy version from lootboxes. Grind high rating arena for good one.
For starters the rares in Darkshore drop the same pieces as the warfront. This untrue for Arathi though. The rares in Arathi drop the pieces that should drop from thewarfro t but dont. Instead the warfront drops an inferior looking version.
Unfortunately I am not a highly skilled PvP player so me breaking 1800 rating in two weeks is never going to happen. And the elite set recolor does drop from them it seems to be the only place you can get the recolors is from these rare mobs in Darkshore.
OK:
1 - The elite PvP recolor only drops from the quest you get once per Warfront Cycle. The gear you get from Rares looks like regular non-elite PvP gear.
2 - There’s 0 skill involved. Do the Warfront once per cycle and you’ll get it all eventually.
3 - It takes a long time, but you can speed it up by using multiple characters. If you have one Plate character you have one drop per cycle. If you have 5, you get 5 drops per cycle.

view that in 3d viewer. Definitely looks like the Elite Recolor. Also says the drop from the rares.
Blizzard has a weird tech now where a single item ID can store different versions including a different model.
This item ID can drop from the Rares, but the version that will drop from the rares will use the non-elite model.
If you want the Elite model you can only get it from the weekly Warfront quest.
I speak from experience. I have several elite Warfront sets.

Thanks for the insight. unfortunately i dont have a bunch of 120 plate wearing alts so looks like I will have to get more somehow
If you look at the screenshot, it shows how the item actually looks.
The best time to roll an army of alts to get more attempts at transmog and mount drops was several years ago. The second best time is now!

I don’t know when the season ends or w/e but probably the quickest way would to buy a carry, so I’d say learn to make gold or hope you can afford buying plenty of tokens, otherwise I don’t know what other reskins you’re referring to but apparently it’s gated behind the warfronts or w/e which I haven’t done in like 6+ months or something.
