Deathbolt?

I don’t understand this ability? it does nothing sometimes and other times it will deal 11 damage… i apply all my dots use deathbolt but it hits like a wet noodle… is this a dead ability or is there some weird scaling thing going on where its only vaible past a certain lvl?

I’m pretty sure that it works off the dots you have on the target (I could be wrong. Please forgive my ignorance). Haven’t played affliction in a bit, but I think it works on the dots you got on the target. You upload all your dots and then deathbolt. Which does damage based on the dots damage remaining on the target. I could be wrong

For leveling I’d stick with Nightfall or Drain Soul. You get the most out of Deathbolt when you can dump all of your shards on a target, pop Deathglare to extend all those Unstable Afflictions, and then use Deathbolt. While leveling, not many mobs will even live long enough for you to do that, not to mention that with super low haste you may not even be able to dump shards fast enough before your first UAs start falling off.

Thank you.

What Soren said. Afflicition has face melting powers if you flex 110% of your cosmic potential. Glare + dark soul + UA’s…DEATHBOLT.

DEEEEEEAAAAAATH BOOOOOOOOLT

You wanna throw up as many dots as possible, multiple UAs… then pop Darkglare to extend all their durations then Deathbolt.

It’s terrible gameplay imo because you only feel like you do damage every 3 minutes. And your dots feel like they dont do any damage on their own outside of deathglare windows… which is in my opinion the complete opposite of what an affliction warlock has always been, thematically speaking.
