Death Penalty debuff

So the death penalty debuff is by far the dumbest thing ever implemented. Reasons being is if you’re in a pug for a world boss, in example, Oranomonos and if you have no way of getting out of the root and the boss does the aoe thing, meanwhile heals aren’t keeping you topped off, how the hell are you supposed to survive that while mitigating the other stuffs that’s happening? Why is this debuff even a thing? Whose bright idea was this over in blizz HQ?

A) what debuff are you talking about?
B) AMS+AMZ couldn’t save your life?
C) Couldn’t wraithwalk out of the roots?

Are you talking about resurrection sickness…? Cause you’re supposed to walk back to your corpse, not actually rez at the ghost thingy.

Oh sorry, I was supposed to comment on the character I did it on. I was playing on my warrior. But the debuff comes after getting killed on a world boss encounter where you can’t release for like 3 minutes.

After the boss dies you still can’t release?

You can release after the boss dies, but I’m more so talking about during the encounter. If you die during the encounter, you used to be able to just release and run back to your corpse and rejoin the fight. I don’t know if it’s bliz’s way of making it more “in raid” like or not.

lol how many times did you die

the rez timer increases the more you die. so if you find that you can’t release for 2 minutes, you’ve died more than once or twice.

I think it was implemented so people could still get credit/loot while dead where if the boss died while they were running back, they would not get such.

Probably because the GY is far away and the boss would die before you got back, you’d lose your tag on the boss and get no loot.

Twice, first time was because I got rooted and he did his AoE thing which killed me there. Got brezed and wasn’t getting healed, so I got dwindled down to nothing.

yea it can be tough in world boss groups, sometimes there’s only one or two healers

I doubt this is something you’ll see a change for though

Ooooooh yeah, Mortanis’s 6 minute release timer sure sucks, but luckily he dies waaaay before that.

Sounds like a design flaw on blizz’s end then. If they put a world boss that far away from the graveyard, why not implement a somewhat closer spawn point and get rid of the debuff?

Maybe they want to move away from the ‘zerg boss’ strategy. Is it only world bosses or any rare elite?

So far it seems like just world bosses

I don’t remember world bosses in BfA having a death penalty debuff

Because, depending on when someone died, they boss could be almost dead and how many just auto release? I mean Mortanus is not that far from a spawn point, just outside the house of the chosen, but it is far enough that if people don’t watch it, boss is dead anyway.

seems to be only world bosses

Because they didn’t, but people would still be locked out of loot or credit, at least on ones like Empress in Pandaria, if the boss died while they were running back.

Yeah, I always figured this is why they made you wait to release

What’s wrong with throwing wave after wave of our own men at them?

Death Penalty?

You mean rez sickness?
Or the one where time gets added to your respawn time every time you die.
Or you mean where you can’t release from your corpse during a boss encounter because we were mean people during fights like the LK where dying was part of the encounter, but we always told new players that we wiped and they should release and run back.

Blood elf mischief.
