Death of Hekili

I dont mind blizzard removing combat addons, But they should implement something better than the “lighting up buttons”, Hekili was good because it grabbed data from the actual rotations and BiS buttons to press and when to press them which made people learn the class faster, I hope blizzards hekili version is customizable like hekili was and its just a window that grabs the best rotations from 3rd party sites. Its a great skeleton on how to play the class, when to press big cds, and etc. Kinda bummed its removed.

A few years ago I believe it was Ion that said that they have a close relationship to some of the big addon makers and that made the decision to remove them or not more complicated. Some of addon devs make their living from WoW.

As for Hekili, what a great addon as a tutorial for trying out new classes or when coming back after a few seasons.

I hope the devs for Hekili have a great life.

Hope the best for him. But i Hope blizzard takes the skeleton he made and add it to the game. Like you could choose what abilities u wanted to see with hekili sperate CDs, Aoe, Single target, or combine them, or even just use it as a cool down manager move skills around like if you want pillar of frost not in your major rotation you can move it to cds if you wanted. It also told you what button its physically on your keyboard so you get muscle memory, it even had like the scrolling skills right goes from one skill to the next, not just a button lighting up, If blizzard can implement that. (which i think they wont and have a super scuffed version) i think its fine but the issue is blizzard takes a LONG time to fix things. or even update features.

It is the best one, for sure.

well, did they explicitly say somewhere that hekilii would be broken? because from I’ve read everywhere, they didnt…

Hekili dev said they wont be doing it anymore because blizzard is gonna remove the API for combat addons, Details, DBM, Hekili, ETC

Are you really learning your class if you keep using it? At what point have you finished learning and taking the training wheels off?

ok thanks, that sucks. ill just have to go back to making my own custom weak auras for every class then :frowning:

who cares? do you want to down content with other people or not? why are ppl alway screeching about stuff like this lol rofl even

I turn it off and only use it as a CD tracker now for Pillar, Reapers, and Breath. Because it was recommending AOE rotation when I needed to hit a prio target. Blizzards hekili is so scuffed its insane. Infact i turn off Summon undead in hekili and just macro it to pillar since its both ogcds. Blizzards hekili cant do that. its literally button light up press.

Personally I think they should let the add-on makers design the features for the game and then let the devs keep it updated after that.

Players themselves know what other players need to play the game more than the developers seem to

This would be a great idea.

I don’t think Hekili will die off completely. Blizzard did say they were going to be having big discussions with addon authors, especially those impacted by the API changes. I imagine Hekili’s author will be among them.

I expect they might be able to tap into the rotation helper in some manner, which fills the same role as Hekili and then expand on it from there with some tweaks.

I’ve never heard of Hekili until people started posting about it on the forums this week. lol Been playing since 05 so it can’t be that important.

Isn’t WA getting gimped too?

Thats what im afraid of like yea we got that rotation helper, But its so bad I get that the devs of those addons are gonna help them right. But its blizzard the turn around for upgrades on any system is like 3-6 months lol. And its just gonna be super duper scuffed. Like I gave an example of Blizzard updating UI, people were stoked thinking great dont need ELVUI it makes me lag but has so many quality of life. Then it comes out and cant do half of what elvui does and people still go back to elvui.

for some things, no one besides the addon devs really know whats up, but for simple tracking of spells im hoping it wont be gutted, just maybe less granular access.

Oof. Who’s gonna tell him, chat?
