Death knight or Warrior

having a hard time picking between Warrior and DK.

can you guys help me decide which one might be the better long term choice?

DPS, PvP focused

any pros and cons is helpful. Thanks

DK is kind of a slasher class, like in horror films you see Jason or Michael Myers slowly coming towards their victim but somehow catching up no matter how much they run.
Magic damage.

Warriors are the classic frontline war class. Fast and practically unpeelable.
Physical damage.

I chose DK simply because I like the melee/ranged hybrid playstyle (chains of ice, mind freeze, diseases, etc).

For long term its always better to go with the playstyle you like the most, because the pros and cons can (and do) change.

does the lack of mobility ever bother you ? ive noticed dks are very slow

Nah. Rather than going to the target we make them come to us. We have an unlimited ranged slow (chains of ice), two charges of death grip as our gap closer, death’s advance for a slight speed boost, and wraith walk if you select the talent.
Plus with all the ranged diseases, you hardly notice your lack of mobility (at least for PvP).

what about just in like open world content does the lack of mobility ever make it less fun?

Less fun than warrior, perhaps. That would depend on how you like to play casually. In open world I play DK as a ranged class as unholy.
Most complaints about DK mobility are towards dungeons and raids which is valid considering death grip is practically useless in those instances.

Play warrior, simple.

Dk’s are not like these slasher horror films that 100% rely on the people they are chasing to be incompetent. There is a reason why these films get mocked from commercials to other movies.

We arent going to be zooming around, but we arent slow like people want to suggest. Many people just dont know how to use DK movement properly.

If you ask warriors they will say they arent good, if you talk to dks they say the same thing. Just try them out and play whichever you find fun.

This was completely unnecessary.

No, it was completely necessary and accurate. We are not like these fictional characters that just walk towards their victims and the victims in these films are incompetent. They will trip over nothing and struggle to stand up for 5 minutes because they just started walking yesterday.

You cant even call fictional characters incompetent without someone getting offended anymore… whats wrong with people seriously.

Slow day at work, Kelliste? You’re taking things a bit too literally.

this thread has gone for a wild ride

What is wrong with you?

ya the thread is turning on us.

personally i liked the slasher flick analogy, was funny and visually satisfying to imagine lol.

dk might not be as slow as ppl say but they are deff not fast in comparison to the other melee classes. they have wraithwalk and that like deaths advance ability or whatever its called but i wouldnt really count that as like a gap close type of mobility.

As pointed out by another poster, DKs really are not going to gap close in running to the enemy, we are going to gap close by gripping them to us, give them a nice chain of ice to slow them, and then if they break and grip is on CD, I am going to run the grippy hands(Abom) and pull them and their friends back to me and keep slapping them around.

If you are still deciding, I would say level them both to 70, should not take too long and try them out. If you are looking just from a gameplay perspective, look at the defensives as well.

If you are looking at class designs, do you want 2h weapons, or Dual Weild?

If you are like me and like transmogs, find the one that appeals the most to you (not current warrior, looks bad to me :joy: )

Otherwise the playstyle of zugzuging is more warrior based, if you want to plan more strategicly and really get deeper into the gameplanning, then DK may be the better choice. Since you will be gripping, and depending on if you go Frost or Unholy then the setups are different, the win condition is different…ish compared to Warriors as well.

Long story short, look to see what you like, and it really comes down to understanding what type of combat style fits you best. I have played Warrior on and off, but I always come back to DK. Although…spin to win is always tempting me…Looking at the Arms Warriors out there.

But its not true, thats the thing. We have access to 2 movement abilities one of which stacks twice. Deaths Advance can give you an extra 60% movement speed for a short burst, and overall its better than pally movement. There is also grip that is like giving everyone in the group a charge since you bring enemies to everyone instead of everyone having to go to the enemy which is extremely valuable for group damage which a lot of people also underestimate.

Not to mention this slasher flick view just doesnt work with fast paced game which WoW is steadily creeping towards with M+ and the go go go mentality the playerbase has.

Blood elf/ void elf death knights with scythes.

Be the embodiment of death iteself.

Be the grim reaper. (for some reason thallassian elves has pretty good pole-arm animations with scythe looking weapons)

You could also go for a dark knight look with VE’s frost dual weilding 2 weapons with the voids edge illusion transmog.

And yes, DK’s are the scorpians of WoW, it can be fun to see your pvp target, use death grip with a macro screaming “Get over here!”

I did not realize I was posting on the wrong charecter lol. Does the armory even show void’s edge illusion on weapons?

Edit: I looked it does not, it makes me a bit sad, the weapons looks great with it.

Speaking from a pvp perspective, warrior has way more comps to play than dk currently. Though I enjoy pvp from dk and warriors.

Pve wise warrior rotation is mind numbingly boring imo.

I can envision the class I play however I want, thank you.
I was merely talking about class fantasy. I see Death Knights as a horror themed class.
You don’t have to, but don’t tell me I can’t please.
