Like, that should have been exactly how steed functioned since it’s inception.
From playing WC3, I’m more okay with DKs having access to their mount than the stupid pony for Paladins.
It is a bit troll that it’s basically everything a Paladin has asked for, but if you’ve played Paladins long enough, you’d know everything we ask for goes to other classes… ![]()

I’d just like to see a similar movement impairment immunity given to divine steed as well. We don’t need the root break because we HAVE freedom, but horsing up only to get rooted on it is a miserable experience.
as a death knight, i’m happy we finally get some movement speed. we don’t have our entire rotations on a mid-range plater.

It is straight up a better version of divine steed in every way, actually insane. Same cd, slow immunity for entire duration, lasts 10 seconds (we have to talent into 6 second steed), might even be off gcd since deaths advance is and this replaces it, talent that makes it 2 charges. About to walk over the edge so bad rn
Im not even sure what to think like that’s insane. To be clear I am glad dks got that and it’s perfectly themed after their tree, but how did we not get this in templar tree? We’ve only been asking since legion. Popping divine steed to move an inch because you’re slowed on it the entire time is a terrible feeling and every single spec in the game has multiple snares/slows and some even have passive ones.
Neither do rets though. We can do a decent amount from range but all a caster has to do is stand 20 yards away and slow the paladin to severely limit holy power generation which is quite easy to do. We can also flip this around and say “ret doesn’t have the ability to bring targets to them immediately with 2 charges for use and a short cd+a spammable undispellable slow” but it doesn’t really matter.
Not sure why we’re making this a Paladin vs dk thing. Dks deserve this, but ret/paladins absolutely do too. We’ve been asking for it since divine steed was introduced, and let’s be completely honest Death Charger is just a better version of it in every way (same cd, longer duration, x2 charges, slow immunity and immediate slow/snare break) which is kind of annoying to see for paladins who have been discussing divine steed for years now. Not that dks shouldn’t get this, but that rets should have already had it as well lol.
i came to see if paladins were complaining about dks getting essentially better divine steed, and i saw it complained about immediately. i won’t say anything more about the balance between the 2 classes but i am rather amused to say the least.
I mean yeah of course? You knew it would happen because it makes sense it would happen. Death knights would be doing the exact same thing if ret paladin got a better version of death grip because why wouldn’t they complain about that? Divine steed is something rets have been asking for improvements to for 7 years man, and nobody is saying DKs shouldn’t get this, I am pumped they did and the hero tree looks sick for dk, it’s just that rets should also be getting slow immunity for steed too and really already should have had it. Not like we’re going to the dk forums with this lmao.
Let’s compare points spent on the two mobility buttons in this discussion though for fun:
Rets have to talent into Divine steed itself, the x2 charge talent and the +2 seconds extra duration talent to maximize Steed. That’s 3 points on divine steed in the class tree alone to get a 6 second duration, x2 charge version of steed. The hero talent gives us 30% extra move speed for 3 seconds and 2 more seconds of divine steed duration bringing it to 8 seconds, which just doesn’t matter if we are permanently slowed on it but that’s 4 total talents (3 from class tree) on divine steed to get 8 second duration, x2 charge steed.
In comparison, Death charger requires no talents in the class tree, or 1 talent if you want x2 charges, and then the 1 hero talent itself. So that’s 2 talents total (1 in class tree) for a 10 second duration, x2 charge, slow immune for entire duration and immediate snare break version of divine steed. Kinda crazy, but again this is not a post asking to remove anything from dk.
I mean DKs did just get our ability but better.

Also new expansion new tuning. Hopefully we see improvements to Divine steed to make it at least a bit parallel. If I had my way, Id simply say bake Seasoned Warhorse into the Divine Steed ability and place the steed of glory PVP talent in it’s place, without the duration increase.
It is a little annoying a different class got the same ability, but better, when pallys have been asking for basically charger for years.
it’s not really that big a deal to me since I’m not a high end player, but it does feel tone deaf of the devs.
