Can we get at least 1 hour of testing on your streams from now on?
I understand that testing is not the most entertaining thing for your viewers to watch; however, unless I’ve missed someone, the only streamers I’ve seen do testing are Joana, Asmon, and Esfand (when they tested Redoubt). Since Warsong Gulch came out, it seems that’s all anyone is covering.
I know your fans are gonna say I’m jealous, which I’m not. I don’t want to play Classic until its public release. Ya’ll have every right to do what you want with your streams. However, for the good of the game, can you please test for bugs and other issues? I would love to have the best game possible at release and doing testing, I think, would benefit everyone. I would look forward to seeing that type of content.
How about watch the streamers and if you notice a bug on the stream that the streamer didnt notice report it yourself on the forums if you are this worried about bugs
Blizzard has people watching streams, so when they see bugs in WSG like people walking through walls while feared, they debug it. But, hey, lets just tinfoil hat over the fact that thousands of people got in, but these 100 or so people livestream it so I hate them!
Contrary to what most people here think, Beta access is actually specifically for testing. It always has been since many decades before WoW even existed. It is just in recent years that game companies are not really following any of the traditional development norms. They called the garbage at Blizzcon a Preview, when typically a preview is the final form of a game before release, after both internal, closed, and open Alphas and Betas are conducted. They are now mixing developers Beta with Marketing, which brings us streamers. Most of these streamers were not old enough to really play the game when Vanilla came out. They would have no idea what are real bugs and not, because they have only played on private servers, if even that. Most of these streamers are not the most intelligent people either. Their viewers value them for the entertainment value, not because they are particularly good players or understand the game better than anyone else. In my opinion the Beta should be run and used by devs and people with game testing experience, not the Marketing and PR departments. The people invited should be interested in testing and reporting. This should be the main focus. All streamers do is detract from the process of identifying and fixing bugs.
I’ve dropped in on a lot of different streamers while playing the beta and most of them are enjoying the experience while also making notes on what’s working and what isn’t. Tipsout did a great job of showing what happens during layering for example.
The streamers make notes and occasionally do bug reports mid stream. It’s not entirely their responsibility to identify all the glitches and quirks, there’s thousands of us doing our part.
Blizzard: “We’re going to be testing the honor system and Battlegrounds!”
Beta Testers: “Okay, we’ll play WSG.”
Forum Posters: “Why are beta testers only playing WSG?!”
I try to always report a bug i run across while streaming. Sometimes viewers point them out to me and i report those as well. Not everything i think is a bug really is so you have to make sure before you report it. Last night i forgot to report a bug in BFD…apologies for that…it was 2 am.
