Not really. One of the Alliance world quests in the prepatch Darkshore stuff was to slaughter deer because the bear druids were hungry and needed meat.

Killing for food is different than experimenting on animals. As Herleva pointed out there are times druids will kill animals if they’re sick or the health of the forest overall would be improved by doing so. Crippling an animal is not the same thing I think Nat’s just been hitting the bottle a bit too much.
It’s a shame DEHTA lasted only in WotLK. Could have been a funny side quest group to consistently bring back each expansion.
