Dear fellow pug players about shadow priest interrupts

As a shadow priest I should NEVER be #1 or #2 on the number of interrupts in a run. Let me explain why…

I have the option of choosing 30 sec cd interrupt

OR

45 sec interrupt and a 4 sec stun

If I’m leading in interrupts or only behind the tank there is something horrifically wrong. Please don’t let me lead the interrupt rankings for the DPS in a run…

Thank you

I was doing a dungeon the other day and had a mage who was using a lot of colorful language to scream at the rest of the group to interrupt. I then looked at the meter and found myself and the only other melee in the group had done all the interrupting. He hadn’t done a single one.

Unfortunately, people in this game are just going to be bad. So long as somebody is interrupting, I guess it’s better than nobody? :man_shrugging:

Melee are the ones that should be doing the majority of the interrupting, as they have the shortest interrupt CDs and don’t have to stop damage to do it. Casters have longer interrupt CDs and have to interrupt their casts to do so, which means the mob is now taking longer to die.

Casters are backup interrupters for when melee cannot interrupt, not for when melee don’t feel like it.

While you’re right in most cases, when the boss teleports across the room (it was in a Legion dungeon) and melee have to haul over to try and get to the boss and the mage can just click a single button … from range … then they should be doing it. They shouldn’t be flapping their fingers to flame every other person in the group.

Period.

Yes, that’s when the backup on the interrupt is needed, and casters should step in to do so. We agree on this part.

Dear dps: I will interrupt as best I can, but if I’m kiting necrotic stacks, y’all gotta be on it.

this is why warlocks and boomkins are not invited to groups. Warlocks ALWAYS have an excuse as to why they refuse to interrupt, just bad players in general for M+ and why they are better suited in carry groups for raiding. Boomkins always want to complain about their long cd and how they have to cherry pick when to use it but then never end up using it at all. OMG I HAVE A LONG CD SO THAT MEANS I NEVER USE IT! Its annoying. One of the reasons I like having a paladin tank, helps carry all the dumb dps players out there that cant be bothered to interrupt and just expect the healer to heal them through it. The amount of times i see Goresplatter go off every time but then the whole group tries to interrupt Drain Soul all at once…wtf

Take this mage in here for example…saying he is the BACKUP interrupter. As in, he expects everyone else to interrupt for him and he only comes in when no one else can. WTF!!! This is why healers are so upset with M+ this xpac…players like this mage. People should be interrupting constantly to the point most people should all be on CD with their interrupts so there is not as much damage going out…there is no real notion of “backup” interrupts. wtf

That hurts my soul.

Is that a joke? Counterspell is just as long of a CD.

Which hurts more? your soul or your mana bar?

My soul since I rarely run as shadow. :stuck_out_tongue:

Though other things pain my mana bar plenty.

counterspell is a 24 second cd, what i really hate in groups is when people don’t run with announce interrupts, its kinda frustrating to waste a kick on something that was already interrupted

I think some casters feel like they’re the second-tier interrupters, since the act of interrupting has never messed with the flow of combat for melee, whereas for casters it can mean interrupting their own spell to get that counterspell/silence off on time.

Nope, you are a part of the group. You can contribute to usefulness.

Melee have to worry about boss mechanics and getting out of range. Stopping their damage done.

It’s a team effort, that means that yes, everyone should be taking a turn interrupting.

I ran a dungeon on my resto druid. DH tank, feral druid, fury warrior, and demo lock. The lock had the most interrupts. :woman_shrugging:

I’m not saying I shouldn’t have to interrupt… I’m saying I should never be #1 on the charts. ESPECIALLY when my CD is 45 sec if I take the stun (I usually do)

I rarely play boomie, and it has a long cd…but I still use it. Don’t really understand why anyone with one wouldn’t want to use it? I can’t cast for a second, how will I manage? That’s silly imo. I’d love one as resto :woman_shrugging:

you should be using something like omni cd or a weak aura to track every ones interrupts in the group for M+

Big sad. :expressionless:
