Dear Druids

Hybrid tax made complete sense at the time because the buffs and functionality of the hybrid classes was unique, once classes shared more options it made sense to get rid of it.

It’s SO obvious how invested you are in this. You’re completely closed off to the idea that your class is enough. It’s so funny how you pretend like every rogue/lock/mage you’ve ever played with is prepared for every contingency. It’s also funny how you pretend like mages are running healing runes and locks are running tank runes so they can pivot mid-fight to be as druid-like as possible.

You’re the one who is so clearly only thinking of one facet of the game.
Also, you talk about balance like it has ever existed.

I genuinely think these people don’t play the game and just read wiki pages or something, or they play an alternate version of the game. They are totally disconnected from how people play the game.

I did most of my lockouts as feral DPS, do you know what I did those raids 99.9% of the time? DPS. The only exception was the 10 seconds I tanked Kelris when both tanks were asleep, while both healers spammed heals on me. That happened ONCE.
But sure, it’s good game design to force a spec to be mediocre 99.9% of the time, because they can be worse than mediocre once for 10 seconds every 2 months.

It’s also funny how they conveniently forget every other hybrid class. For some reason it never comes up that warriors were the best DPS and best tanks in regular classic. Curious.

Right? It’s absolutely insane. I’m convinced it’s just people who died once to a boomie in the past 5 days and got so mad that we weren’t a free kill they’re dedicating themselves to trolling now.

I don’t think the nurf was due to a hybrid tax or design theme punishing classes due to playstyle options. It was nurfed because it could one shot people in pvp, a insta cast on a 6 second cooldown should never be that powerful and is not a good direction to go. They tried to compensate pve with the buff to starfire to equal things out. Also the spellpower coeffecient was too strong. If the compensation is not enough that can and should be discussed and debated, but hoping to get things back to the way they were will not get you far.

Oh, no no, don’t get me wrong. The nerf to starsurge was warranted, needed, and I hope it pushes Balance druid in a direction where all of its power is not chained to one single rune. Now that they’ve shown they are open to doing tweaks to things like shadow form, I am moderately optimistic for the future (until I look at the bear runes and realize there is no druid player in the dev team).

I just disagree with this notion of “Balance druid doesn’t get to be a good caster because you can go bear and throw a taunt if you feel like annoying your tank” that the OP was presenting

A DPS warrior could have stepped up and done the same thing, or a paladin, or a hunter could if they had the right pet. you were just a sponge with enough health to survive the blows and keep the boss focused on you. yeah that is what a tank is most of the time, but druids are extra spongy having only dodge and armor. So it iisn’t even 10 seconds every 2 months it is being the first to step up for 10 seconds every 2 months.

Terrible take.

LF1M healer+tank+dps.

Have you even played the game? Or do you just participate in gdkps where your role is irrelevant.

Also seriously, tell me you haven’t played Druid without telling me you haven’t played Druid.

Neither balance nor Resto has the mana to cast their spells which is why Resto is reliant on occasional massive heals with Wild Growth and Balance was reliant on the low cost of Wrath+Starsurge.

So now the class is unable to even perform it’s primary rotation due to lack of resources, and you want them to spend more? Lmao.
Biggest joke I’ve ever seen.

They’re about as in tune with the game as any IGN (or similar nonsense gaming news) “reporter” is. Which is honestly where they probably get their info from.

All these trolls being like “how dare you want your class to have enough mana to cast one spell!” It’s honestly so ridiculous.
The gross thing is these people are actively seeking these confrontations, forcing their way into the druid discord and such simply to gloat like the petulant children they are.

This is absurdly bad logic. Raids and dungeon groups are not built around the notion of okay we need a druid JUST IN CASE we need someone to emergency tank or emergency heal. You already have your tank(s) and healers decided. So the notion that a class should be garbage and its specs be ineffective due to that .001 % of situations it can do something to help stabilize a group is just silly and divorced from reality.

Right, like, I’m starting to think these people have never tried to form a raid group before

I have literally never in my life seen “LF1M Gnomer, need a hybrid that can do a little bit of everything”

Lol cringe.
2 tanks 2 heals rest dps. Avoid crap, dont die, kill boss. This tactics worked on every 10 man till i quit wow in pandaria. 10 mans was a joke and 40m is even worse.
Bfd is 100% the same. For fks sake even retail

There is zero reasons for weird tryhard like run 1 tank / 1heal or two handed prot whatever.
Also no pre bis or pots mandatory to complete 99.9% of raids

They should just remove bear form from SoD so druids can fill two roles like everybody else.

Two roles = different specs, different gear, runes, keybinds addons. Also skill

If you give druid 50 roles it will still perform one. Same as every other class

A rogue can vanish, change gear to tank runed gear, and come out as a tank mid fight.

Warlocks cannot do that, but a rogue can.

Druids are still VERY versatile to the point no other class compares in their sheer versatility.

Because neather a rogue not a warlock can heal or tank or dps. Its true a fetal druid doesnt have amazing heals, but it can definatly make the difference. Especially if it is shifting out to throw abolish posions out, then back to dps, or throwing rejuvs to help with an aoe damage phase. They also now have innervate which healers and arcane mages will love you for.

Honestly i think a good rune for boomkin and resto would be
druidic guidance.
When innervate is cast on an ally the druid also gains the effect and the CD is reduced by X minutes.

It depends on how nice the system is to them, because swapping into tank rune for Rogues and Shamans (maybe warlocks too, but I don’t have one with the rune) triggers a global cooldown due to the addition of a Buff to become a tank.

If the system changes the pants first, then the other rune slots may not have time to switch before being yanked back into combat via a mechanic or AoE.

That could work.

Although I think Druids just need to work on Mana management…

Shamans get Shammy rage, but an ele shaman is only going to get back half a mana bar or less every minute and they can burn that just casting LB for 20 seconds.
(Druids at least have a completely free spell to cast…and apparently their only mana costing spell in the rotation is making up 1/4 of the casts)

Pretty sure they were just used to spending no mana to do DPS.

And this is why druids are throwing a fit.

They dont realize how much more mana efficient they already are compared to era.

I had a boomkin in era. And i have a druid in sod as well. It isnt max level, but even just leveling the mana efficiency is 10 times better.

Same here.

You keep saying this but the issue is you have literally no idea what you’re talking about, again…

The boomie rotation now costs nearly 3k mana per minute…
