Yes this is a basic understanding of some of the things a tank should do.
Pulling the mobs is a tanks job.
Pulling the mobs is not a dps’s job, unless the tank has asked the dps to do so for some reason.
There aren’t many examples where a dps should be pulling, especially in current meta. Especially in pug groups, unless specifically asked to by the tank.
It might be possible that in high-end organized groups that a tank will ask the dps to help him pull, but this is almost never the case in pugs, because 1. PUG dps is not to be trusted, 2. PUG dps will not have memorized your MDT even if you post it (as I always do).
In fact, after having posted an MDT I often have dps questioning my path, mid-run. This is common because DPS cannot be bothered to look at the MDT most of the time and just agree “it looks good”.
