Dear Dev Team, Allow Me To Help

Hello, and thanks for stopping your scrolling and taking a moment to read the ultimate fix for World of Warcraft. Funny thing is, this is something you already do in PvE and PvP, but with a twist. So let’s dive in shall we?

What do PvE and PvP seasons have in common? Yep, you guessed it. They both reset at the end of their season. Makes sense. You grind all season, go as high and hard as you can, then get reset back to square one in the next season. Now, think BIGGER. Here is how you keep World of Warcraft “evergreen” and keep all of the expansions under control.

At the start of each expansion, our “rank”, or in this case, level, is returned to 1. Each expansion is only X number of levels. I say 10, but maybe you want to go 15. Your game, your call. Gear resets with us, so our lvl 10 gear from 11.2 follows us into 12.05 and we grind up new level 10 gear. Here’s where it gets easier.

Level 1 gear is ilvl 10. Level 10 gear is ilvl 100. If you have conquest or mythic gear, your gear is ilvl 135. Same levels, easy to follow, every expansion. Now, as for Chromie time, it still exists. Also, it takes you from lvl 1 to 10. So you can still reach end game on alts without having to run the same content. Or, you can level up every character in the new content.

Once you hit lvl 10, all legacy expansions cap at level 5. Heroics cap at 6. Mythics cap at 7. So everything before the current expansion is soloable. Current heroics, mobs cap at 11, and mythic mobs cap at 13. So you still have a challenge worth fighting. The only thing happening here is simplification of stats. That’s all.

No more grinding 50-100 levels. No more feeling “forced” into content outside of what you want to do. No more complicated stats and gearing. Nothing will feel grindy again, unless it is something you are doing to yourself like PvP or Mythic+. Treat each expansion like a Season. It will make it new player friendly, level the playing field for everyone. We only climb 10 levels in most new expacs now, all this does is keep the math simple, and kills the overwhelming mental numbers game.

The K.I.S.S. method in action!

Aren’t these staple features of an MMO though?

You would think that, because that was how they have always made it out to be. But the staple of an MMO is progression in an RPG setting. Getting 10 levels (what we do now) to get to level cap (what we do now) is progression. Only thing I am suggesting is hitting the reset button each time.

I would love something like this. Would be nice to just start back at one and not feel so overwhelmed.

It just made sense to me. If we have to grind 10 levels in each expac anyway, why not start at 1 instead of 70, or 90, or 110?

ok blizzard it’s really simple just completely revamp the entire game and that’ll fix all of the issues

Hyperbole much? The only thing changing are character levels and mob levels. They already have automation in the existing system to execute a stat squish. They simply change the number to a 1, and use it every 18 months instead of every 8 years.

Honestly I think I undersold the overhaul you were suggesting

and I think you’re a drama queen. It’s literally one of the simplest fixes around and would take almost nothing to implement. you’re literally talking about doing a blanket number change during a stat squish which they’ve already done twice in the past and have the technology to do again.

So your idea of ‘simplification’ is complete overhauls of all scaling mechanisms in the entire game?

people keep using this word overhaul lol Did drama class just let out and all of you come up with the same buzz word? It’s literally a stat squish.

They still did gear better back when each raid tier/PvP season has overlap. Yes new BiS would come out to go after, but last tier’s gear was still pretty good. This “okay everything is outdated suddenly” approach I hate. I mean, I guess I understand how it ended up this way since they boiled everything down to “Stamina, Main Stat, Secondary One, Secondary Two” it’s a little hard to have mix and matching when gear is limited to 4 very basic stats.

Wait. Is this a real idea, or a veiled criticism of the seasonal structure of the game?

So… Diablo IV seasons.

As long as it has Eternal mode like Diablo. Then I can get out of this seasonal thing once and for all.

well, I don’t do PVP or mythic plus. So this isn’t a thinly veiled anything

It’s a balance between two mindsets:
a) Your mindset that says “starting at 1 every season is easier”; and
b) The other mindset that says “I want to keep my hard-earned levels and HATE level squishes”

You can’t please everybody, but your proposal (on the surface) seems like it would upset more players than not. Subsequently Blizz has only ever implemented one character squish since Vanilla to present. Item-level squishes have been more frequent, but they still don’t seem to like doing that until it’s “absolutely necessary” (Ion said we’d get to Legion-levels of DPS numbers by the time we got to the end of the Last Titan, then a squish would be likely, so perhaps Legion-like is their threshold?).
