I dont know if its just me or I maybe haven’t ran it that many times but the hardest part of this dungeon is figuring out the maze that is this place.
It’s not really a maze. It’s a pretty set route.
Answered your own question. Bravo!
After you kill the main level bosses (the pig, witches, and tree) you do get a GPS wisp that leads you to the basement.
When you ran it 30+ times at current content, you easily memorized the M+ route for that dungeon. Just takes practice (and they’re likely not adding any new indicators of which way to go as that’s part of the “baked in” difficulty challenge of that particular dungeon).
Still, doesn’t hurt to ask, but it would take a Community Manager to see your post, think it was worth reporting to a dev, that dev in turn thinks it’s worth bring up to the content lead, that lead has to prioritize this “new feature” among other new features within the budget and time-constraints against the value added to the widest segment of the playerbase it would impact, etc., etc. So you can see it’s pretty unlikely to get added; just practice more!
Different doors are open at the start randomly when you run it so you just go in that direction first and then go whatever way is open to the other side’s boss.
Then when the upper bosses are dead there’s two doors to the basement and you can just go to whichever is closer. Those have the glowy wisp things pointing them out as well.
This.
Also, the layout of the house doesn’t change. All that changes are which of the first four doors are unlocked.
To be absolutely fair, it’s not always a set route. If different doors are open, then that does change how you can move through the manor.
I love Waycrest, and have long memorized the common route, but I will admit it can take a second to get my bearings if I have to go up through the stairs into the hunting/smoking room.
It’s one of those things where you know you are immediately when you see the gaunt servants and the pigs, but getting there can be a touch tricky.
Which is probably part of the point of the manor, leaning into that kind of horror.
even a 20 year player like me gets confused in there at times if its random doors
I’m pretty sure the doors don’t change. You can alter your route but the doors are open.
The doors 100% change.
The route most people are familiar with is that you go into the dungeon, up the stairs, and then hang a left. You go through a hallway (with a surprise witch), kill some guards, go down the stairs, take a moment to explain why you should take like five seconds to kill the initiate witches with the groups on both sides of the room because mind control happens and random AoE can cause the frogs to die and disorient the group. You kill the trio, then turn around, go out the hall, hang a left, then a right in front of the staircase. A surprise witch in the hall, two guards (two more coming down the stairs), then ‘outside’ which doesn’t let you mount. Kill some witches, wicker beasts, a mega witch, a tree. Go inside the next building, make a right, deal with bodies-and-pigs-and-maggots, then go kill a bunch of servants with someone with a bell that causes AoE silence, kill the boss…etc.
This is from memory. I love that dungeon.
I tanked it yesterday, and the doors were closed on the left side. All of them. We had to go up the stairs to the right, and through the hunting lodge, with those traps and those dogs.
It is possible that after you kill all of the above bosses, all of the doors open. But they do not open otherwise.
Maybe in normal and heroic but for mplus in order for runs to be fair it’s the same.
“ Waycrest Manor
All doors in Waycrest Manor are now open, allowing you to choose the exact path that you want to take!”
The only time I was ever kicked from a dungeon was when I got lost in Waycrest somehow. It so embarrassing!
they are probably talking about time walking right now.
in the heroic/timewalking version, there are only a three routes based on which door opens from the first lobby. the way to the end boss remains more or less the same.
-up the stairs to the left, go through the corridor, then take stairs back down to the witches
-left door, head to the witches
-right door, work through the room (library or something or other) continue around to a hallway, sludge boss on right.
from either of these, head into the center of the building to the courtyard for the tree boss.
head to the other wing you didnt clear yet.
while there is a back staircase to the basement and final boss, i usually just take the sludge boss route to the kitchen no matter which order we went and then head downstairs.
if you really do get confused, just head over there on your own and run it solo on normal to get a handle on the route.
At start there are four doors, these doors indicate the path. So most typically it will be 2nd floor left door open, fight down hallway to boss, 1st floor door opens that leads straight to 2nd boss, which opens door to 3rd etc. Pretty much every rotation is going to look like that.
+1 for a GPS
