We’ve seen it before for other areas of the world, and it was definitely missed for Maui, North Carolina, and other disasters. Los Angeles is your backyard, seems like a great way to get the Warcraft community engaged and get some help to those who lost everything… and are not rich, which many aren’t.
With the obvious success of microtransactions in this game, let’s get something together for the players to help out!
Before the haters jump in:
I am from L.A. I am well aware of our situation and our people and who is and isn’t affected so far.
I am currently volunteering, donating and helping in whatever way I can my community.
No, I do not need this. It’s just a suggestion. If anyone wants to donate, they don’t need an incentive, and there are plenty of organizations in need of help.
Be kind. Skip the hateorade, especially the political one. That isn’t why I posted this.
If you really want to get this going, I doubt posting on the forums is the way to do it.
Nobody here is going to make that decision.
Reach out to Holly Longdale or Mike Ybarra, or Microsoft for that matter. I suggest X (formerly Twitter).
Apparently BlueSky is better.
Anything will cause backlash these days. Anything. Just like the US, this community has never been more tribal and divided about every issue. That really shouldn’t be a reason to not do something IMO.
How about donating to any of the number of charities out there without getting a pet or mount. You know, really being charitable. Many of them also give 100% of your contributions.
Agreed here. There are some fantastic organizations who are helping the people who were displaced by the fire and lost everything, helping the first responders and crews, and who are organizing volunteers on the ground there.
My personal favorite right now is World Central Kitchen. https://wck.org Chef Andres helps with any major disaster or situation all around the world. No political, religious, or government orientation. Just food for all those who need it.
They also try to source things locally and employ/use local businesses where they can so that they help those farmers and workers have income while everything is upside down.
Their rating on Charity Navigator is also 100% and that site has all the information and links about the organization. They also have tons of others so look up anything you want to donate to before doing so.
