Blizzard: I know you’ve seen this a lot since you announced that you’re not keeping WotLK servers and now people are upset about it. You told us to give you player feedback over it, so on behalf of myself and my 4 other friends who are ONLY playing classic era at this time because we can’t stand Cataclysm or anything afterward: PLEASE keep some WotLK servers! Even if it’s just ONE PvE server and ONE PvP server, we would love it. My group of friends and I had every intention of coming back to WoW longterm after the Microsoft buyout to specifically play Wrath (EDIT: there were a lot of real life reasons for this, and they’re too personal to go into online, but sadly we had to miss out until now), only to find out that Wrath is going away. So now we’re back in Classic era instead. Better than nothing, we’re having fun, but it’s not what we truly wanted. I know we’re not alone, and we definitely will not be playing Classic anywhere near as long as we’d play in a Wrath server. We may only be 5 people, but that’s still 5 people who will probably play Classic for a few months and unsub, vs 5 people who would play Wrath for years.
EDIT: Weird that ppl are assuming I can’t be a real user because my character is low level and I have only a few posts. As I’ve said, I JUST came back to wow after years. I had no classic characters to post with anymore (forum requires you have at least a level 10 character or you can’t start new threads), so this is my new main and account to play classic with while we wait to see how Wrath goes. Yes, I’m really only level 20. I’ve got a job, you know? XD
EDIT 2: This keeps being brought up for some reason - I’m well aware that my group and I likely missed our chance to play Wrath, that this likely won’t change anything, and that it’s “our own fault,” I never claimed otherwise. We had to put real life before video games, and if we missed out, then we missed out. It’s just really not such a big deal. But to BLIZZARD, for what little it might be worth, I want them to know that if they did keep a server or two, I know of at least a group of 5 ppl who would be very happy and who would play significantly longer in a Wrath server than Classic Era.
You’re not getting WotLK servers at this time, if that’s a deal breaker for you then move on to other things whether that’s Classic Era/Retail or something not even WoW related. I’ve already said why we’re not getting WotLK Era servers but I’ll repeat it here in this thread…
The reason why we’re not getting WotLK Era servers is because Classic Era servers failed, they saw play for the first month or so then everyone stopped playing for roughly 6 months (roughly in the middle of P2 of TBC). That’s when people first started playing hardcore with the HC addon which eventually lead to SoM with their Soul of Iron Buff, which then lead to offical HC servers and once SoM ended SoD came.
Classic Era was pretty much dead as soon as TBC released, after the pre-patch no one really played Era which is the reason why there wasn’t any TBC Era servers and why there’ll be no WotLK Era servers.
So, you’re telling me that you’ve snoozed for past 2 years, without any indications that Wrath Era will b a thing, just to play Wrath era afterwards?
Sounds like you dug own grave here mate. You’ve had all this time to play the game with millions of other players, get to see all Wrath content as CURRENT content and you blew it?
For server costs alone (virtual or not), they’d need thousands of active players to justify Wrath Era
Blizzard asked for player feedback, so I gave mine. You can disagree with it, that’s fine. To each their own. But my friends and I want WotLK servers, so I’m going to put that out there as they asked for people to do. If they don’t end up doing it, then as I already stated, we’ve already gone back to Classic Era and we’ll keep playing that until we’re done with it (which won’t be a super long but hey, fun is fun even if it’s shorterm). It is what it is. As for why we waited 2 years, we had personal real life reasons that are more complex than I cared to go into in my original post, so I kept my statement very vague / general. I’m not going to go into the details of it on a public forum.
I appreciate your honesty, but you would have a prove a demand far greater than that.
But you just told us that you only just came back to WoW AFTER the Microsoft buyout. How can you say with certainty that you’ll be subscribed for years to come if you were away for presumably years already?
Well like I said, this is our feedback. If it’s not enough, then it’s not enough shrug You can only do so much in this life lol. As for how I can be certain we’d play Wrath for years, we played in a private server for a very long time after how much we didn’t like Cata or Pandaria, before those servers got shut down. We were very excited to play official servers that wouldn’t get shut down like that and have all our characters erased, if that makes sense. For that reason I’m so glad we didn’t end up playing the current Wrath. I’d be a lot more gutted to once again be forced into Cata. Right now I’m just disappointed, but at least I didn’t waste my time. I’ll obviously live no matter what happens lol.
As for me having a few posts (to Zaalg), literally I have said multiple times now that we JUST came back to wow after 2 years. I didn’t have any classic characters to post with, you need a level 10 or higher to do so. This is my new main in classic era. I don’t care if you don’t believe me lol.
Had your chance play through Wrath everyone. You blew it. Even if you get Wrath Era, you will never get the same experience as Wrath being current content. You’d be lucky to even form a raiding guild, let alone do proper prog.
This was 10 years ago? And you expect us to believe you’d spend even more years on it when you couldn’t even be bothered with playing Classic Wrath while it was here?
It doesn’t make sense since you chose not to play on Classic Wrath servers while they were here.
I already said they were real life, personal reasons. I’m not obligated to go into personal details like that in a public forum full of strangers. Believe it or don’t, agree or don’t, like it or don’t. It was what it was, we had to put real life before a video game. Don’t really get why so many are so paranoid about it. 5 ppl wanna play in Wrath beyond September where chars will be forced into a patch we didn’t enjoy, it’s really not something to get so upset over. Blizzard will do it or not, life will go on. If you don’t want them that’s fine, you don’t have to ask for them.
If we missed our chance because real life happens sometimes, oh well, it’s just a video game. We will actually survive either way lol.
Which is fine, but it’s also why you can’t really commit to playing a game for “years”. It’s a risk for Blizzard to make the severs even if you promise you will play on them for years to come, because you could easily quit for personal reasons again.
Who is paranoid or upset? People are just sharing their feedback.
I might be misreading your tone. Text isn’t great, my bad if so. But anyway, I get what you mean. 5 ppl won’t pay the bills. But once again, Blizzard has said in multiple posts that they’re keeping an eye on feedback, so it’s important to speak up even if it’s just the 5 of us. If it doesn’t matter and they don’t make servers to stay, eh, back to 7 days to die tbh lol
And if putting real life sudden situations over video games is “blowing it” then sure, but I wouldn’t change it. Is what it is. If Blizzard does keep a server or two around, we’ll jump in now that we can in a heartbeat. The purpose of this post was to tell Blizzard, since they said they’d be watching, that 5 of us would hella play if given the chance now that we can, and we’d play for much longer than Classic.
As far as I know Blizzard, or more so Aggrand, has said it once during Blizzcon after he was questioned “Wrath Era?” (which sounds like PR to me). Everything else was just wowhead posting stuff they never said.
But let’s be real. It’s been 2 months of dead silence and the outcry isn’t even close to something that is relevant, I don’t see them doing it at that point.
I’ve seen it in a few other posts they’ve made, official blizzard posts. And I mean, for what it’s worth I don’t really expect this post to matter at all and I don’t expect them to change their minds. That said, what can it hurt to toss my two cents at them, you know? Always worth trying, and worst case nothing changes and life goes on shrug
Sure you can try and tell your story just don’t have high expectations. People like mktaar take it so personal and post a wall of text in literally every thread that exists about how much he wants Wrath.
Oof… I wondered why ppl seemed so annoyed with my post about this. I was like jeez guys, I’m just tossing a coin into a fountain and making a wish that I don’t really expect will come true, that’s all lol. Makes more sense now.
I, for one not only would like to see WotLK servers, but I think there should be. It was a great game (era of the game, expansion, whatever you want to call it). It’ would be a shame to toss it aside. I think people will always come back to it. Yes, the shiny new game modes will always draw people over, but they will always come back to the 2 biggies - Classic and WotLK.
