So whilst doing some WQs I came across several fellow Alliance bringing down this Horde warlock with the Bounty debuff. Awesome I thought, some free honor and loot. Except this warlock simply WOULD NOT DIE. Every time our posse of Alliance (which eventually grew to about 10-15 people) knocked down his health he would instantly heal back up to full using some sort of broken absorb mechanic/exploit. All while jumping around in a circle just to rub it in our faces.
Numerous times we would get him down to 20% health and poof back up to full. This went for 10 minutes before a combination of purges, stuns and sheer numbers brought this guy down. There are raid bosses I’ve faced that were less challenging than this undead PITA. And whilst it was incredibly frustrating and annoying I gotta admit it was also pretty hilarious.
Does anyone know what this could be? I saw he had 50 stacks of some sort of buff related to his ‘drain life’ but I don’t grok warlocks.
Its an Azerite Trait, every time Agony does damage it adds to the stack up to 50 times. If the channel is broken he loses all the stacks and it starts all over again. Multiple casts on multiple targets add up.
Thanks for explaining although if what you say is true it was obviously broken in some way. He had the 50 stacks of it and he certainly wasn’t channeling it. Like I said he was jumping around in circles in a moshpit of approx 8 Alliance melee laughing whilst 8+ ranged also went to town on him. He was repeatedly stunned, silenced, etc… but it didn’t seem to make much difference. I can even remember a few players peeling off, obviously giving up after 5 minutes or so. Frustrating but also very funny.
Curse of agony builds up to 50 stacks of inevitable demise. This allows for one damaging drain life cast, after which the buff resets back to 0. This wouldn’t be nearly strong enough to do what you describe.
Basically the only way that could happen is if there was a healer or multiple hiding and healing him. I guess he could’ve been exploiting something but that seems unlikely.
Warlocks have no natural substantial way to refill their health, or heal for that matter. At my gear level my drain life heals for 3k a tic and is easily interruptible. If the player was indeed refilling their health pool I’m guessing it was because of a quest which was resetting his or her health, or a quest item which did the same thing.
Thanks for the input. I’m pretty sure that it was the 50 stacks of Inevitable Demise (it sounds familiar now that you mention it) but after using it it just wasn’t falling off. Like at all. I have zero doubt something was broken in game (maybe some quest related thing interacted with it) so this isn’t some sort of ‘nerf warlocks’ QQ. I was just curious how he did it. I haven’t seen a player be so incredibly unkillable since Wintergrasp tenacity was a thing not that he could do anything to us. Except laugh at us and mock us. Mercilessly.
And he definitely didn’t have any healers, at least none they stayed alive more than 5 seconds with 15+ angry Alliance swarming around and getting increasingly frustrated.
You could well be right but I said something was definitely broken.
I bet he’s got it up to 50 stacks where it’s either broken or he’s switched his armor (again breaking it somehow) such that it never falls off. After that he simply needs a single cast of drain life and he nets himself 200k+ health from the one stack insta-refilling his health.
I don’t remember its name but warlocks have talent that make corruption permanent. Is this is used on a training dummy it never expire so and scales stupidly high and when it deals damage it heals him for absursly high health aswell.
