Deadmines: Worth the time?

Now that I’m level 40ish I’m considering starting deadmines carries as a gold maker, or just solo to sell/DE greens. I understand each server is different, just looking for opinions.

Question: Is it typically worth the time? What is a fair price for the run? What sort rules would you recommend for your runs? How is your family doing?

Thanks guys.

I would concentrate on leveling. As a pally, you didn’t have to pay for a mount. You should have enough money for class skills.

With all the level 60s out there doing, few people are going to pay for carries from a non-60. It’d be a lot slower. And thus you’ll make very little gold.

Gold income at 60 is much higher than anything you can manage at 40.

I see your point.

you dont need to make money at level 41 if you already have your mount, its a waste of time

get level 60 and then sell runs. watch your lfg channel to see how people are doing but you can sell it for 1-2g and take all the loot, leave the loot for the runners, its your rules. people generally just want the xp

You’re not a lvl 60 mage.

Deadmines is a bad gold maker imo. Pallys do good in stocks runs at 60 for quick cash, and you can sell SM cath/armory runs at 60. But can only boost classes that can help you with the AOE in those 2 dungeons.

If you farm lashers in DME along with herbalism you can make decent coin as a paladin. I do about 40g/h on my priest, a pally wouldn’t be able to get a couple of the herb spawns so they would probably be around 35g/h or so since your gear will be more expensive to repair as well.

^ Paladins do great at lasher farming. Literally sit in of the eagle gear, get a shield (preferably engi or skullflame) and put a sheild spike on it.

If you have herbalism your GPH can be close to 80. Alternatively wait till 60 and sell VC/Stocks/SFK boosts at 2-5g/run. Or, charge a flat hourly rate if you’re good enough - I can get about a level per hour from stocks. So, I charge people 12g/hr for runs. So 48g/hour in a group of 4. You’ll get another 2-5g in just raw silver looted even after you split it. I don’t take any of the loot except BOE blues.

I had a 40 paladin carry us through a DM once. It wasn’t zoom fast, but it was obviously easy. Being a non-mage I’d say your runs should be fairly cheap for whatever a mage charges.

Personally when I want to solo farm gold I do SFK, but it’s also a bit easier to get to as Horde. Not saying it’s the best grind out there either, but wool on my server goes for like 5s-10s depending on the day and you can farm about 1-2 stacks a farm. It’s about 7-10g a run after you send all the greens to sell on your bank alt on top of wool and any other lucky BoEs you get.

If you’re really looking to make gold you should invest in an herb/alch though. Potion or straight up herb demand never goes away.

i did deadmines and stockades runs for my guildies on level 54

Wouldn’t suggest it for DEing greens to sell. Strange dust is about all you’d get.

waste of time, get to 60 and farm then

Verdict is in, back to the grind!

It’s sad how few players want to actually group and do a leveling dungeon.

Carry sale spam greatly overshadows groups forming in chat.

I don’t see this on my server at least. Far more real runs vs boosts. I think it’s good have both, plus just another way for someone to make gold, that’s different, fun, and helpful.

I occasionally see people selling x5 boosts in deadmines on my server. Usually they’ll ask for 1-2 gold per player. If you manage 5 resets per hour with 4 players being carried that’s like 20 to 40 gold per hour.

If you’re still leveling, you can make that through questing honestly. And you won’t get hardly any gold from the drops in deadmines due to greens at that level selling for 5-10 silver on average. I’d recommend trying to hit level 60 and then selling carries through higher dungeons that have better loot tables, and a better source of raw gold from drops, plus better gold from carries.

But to each their own. I’m sure most servers in 2020 would indeed have some form of a market for deadmines carries.

Well kind of true.

The total cost of mats for the paladin epic quest on most servers costs anywhere from 400 to 500 gold. If you’re farming say lashers in DM East you can net an average of 40-50 gold an hour. More if you get good herb drops. So that’s no more than ~10 hours of gold farming once you hit level 60.

I play on horde Whitemane and both trade and /lookingforgroup channel are pretty filled with wtb or wts carry spam.

Depends… It’s kind of our of the way. I’d wait until 60, roll prot and sell Stockade or SM runs.

Plague-free, so far!
