On the website Blizzard used to track which mobs had killed the most players, and the unbeatable mob was always the Defias Pillagers in Westfall.
I wish they would re add that feature

Those low level caster mobs, when most classes don’t have any way to interrupt a cast short of LOS…

It’s any mob that has a run mechanic as this usually leads to you having to run after other mobs get pulled.
I remember the hardest mob back in 2004 in Western Plague Land, there was a Scarlet Crusade Messager on a Horse escorted by three guards. They were so hard to kill, even lvl 60s had some trouble. It was the CC skills the guards had.

Lies damned lies and statistics. Defias MAY have killed more players on some statistic. But murlocs have killed that player over and over and over and all of his alts and his family and friends.

I was owned so fast I didn’t even know what happened
yep. And the delay time while they are exiting my “dead zone” before I can get a kill shot off, is usually just enough to get in aggro range of other mobs.
