Most SoM servers other than jom are already pretty low pop. Mutanus for example only has like 300-400 horde online at peak hours on the weekend. Obviously I chose to roll here but I don’t think anyone expected the server to just die the way it did this fast. Has blizzard mentioned merges or transfers yet? Are they likely to? Or should I just reroll : (

I thought blizzard will waste resources on merging low pop servers for a league that only last a year.
It’s up to you if you want to start over at JG or at this point and with all the recent problems just wait for SOM2.

Blizzard could have fixed this day one, once Jom Gabbar hit like 5k people they should have locked character creation. If they did that and the other 5k people overflowed to another server or multiple servers, there wouldn’t be a population problem at all.

Incredible how my ranking pool on Mutanus this week was larger than your definitely accurate estimation of peak weekend population. It’s almost like you guys just make this crap up out of whole cloth.

Yeah it’s kinda unfortunate, whole situation coulda been easily avoided imo by either doing that or just making fewer servers

I didn’t say there was 300 total players, I said there were 300 horde online at peak, usually it dropped to between 270-290. Yesterday there were 700 unique logins if that makes you feel better about it tho

It’s a huge company, and many of the people working there are still passionate about the game, especially on the Classic team.
Why even play Blizzard games if you are convinced they can’t make a good game anymore.

This game is on life support and and I can only speak for myself. I’ve been playing since vanilla and have 2 active accounts. I don’t play retail, that died for me in BFA. I’m still here because I have awesome memories from vanilla, tbc, woltk. But, blizzard keeps dropping the ball and they can’t seem to catch lighting in the bottle a second time.
I’m looking forward to what they do for a SOM2 because SOM is being currently beta tested by us.

Did you read any of the Blue posts leading up the original launch of Classic?
This was such a huge undertaking, to launch such a faithful recreation of Vanilla. Obviously it has its share of problems, but I’m grateful to have old Azeroth back on Blizzard servers, because I’ve never been one for Private servers.

I feel like SoM will really begin some time in the new year when all you weirdo doomsayers quit or go reroll on the server you’ve made a fulltime job of shilling for. I spent all weekend in Org and STV with a swarm of people constantly around me while alt tabbing to “muh ded server <500 people on every server except JOM quit quickly QQ” threads. Touch grass.

I had high hopes that SOM would be able to sustain numerous active and thriving servers with the small amount of servers they launched. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case, can’t say it’s a surprise though seeing as how the community has changed and everyone wants a benediction or faerlina lopsided and large server. Jom is pretty much it for SOM, by Christmas the majority of the servers will be desolate. I attempted to get half a dozen of my friends from classic to play SOM they all predicted this.
“Touch grass” isn’t much of an insult when it’s basically your sign off signature on an internet forum. I’ve only read like 5 threads on this forum and I’ve seen you use that a few times already.

Ya this is why I’ve been on this waste of time crusade for the last few days, I get that people on medium pop servers are having fun and leveling and doing their thing, but they don’t have that critical mass to really make Classic feel like Vanilla.
The whole profession progression system utilizes materials from skill one to skill 300. Without fresh levelers, stuff like copper and iron becomes scarce, then AH barons control the market.
just reroll on jajajajam gabbar and quit whining about it. nobody cares that you think you wasted time leveling a character to 35 or whatever.

Jom Gabbar isn’t a good experience, and neither are medium pop servers.
Let me use cities as a metaphor so you can wrap your head around this.
What if the only places you could live on Earth were Kowloon Walled City from 1970’s China, the most densely populated city ever, 50,000 people in 3 acres.
Or a few random small towns in Iowa with no one and nothing.
