DC from game and battle.net at random

I have been having rather regular (at least once an hour) disconnects that boot me from the game and then when I close the window I am also disconnected from Battle.net. It is happening in random locations both cities and individual/group instances, random toons, and random times of day. Computer is brand new and drivers have been updated. It is CAT6 network wired and not on wifi. It does not happen at the same time as other players on the same network in the same instances.

Here are the diagnostics you have asked people who have previously posted about similar issues to hopefully speed up the process. The WinMTR has an occurrence of the disconnect.

I’ve been having issues DC’ing at random as well. It doesn’t normally log me out of Battlenet, but it’s been happening to me mostly the same way as you - Random locations, random toons, random times.

EDIT: I just watched one of my DC’s happen while I was tabbed into the Battlenet app, it DC’d me from Battlenet for a few moments before logging me back in, so it seems I’m going through the same thing as you, after all.

My wife and I are getting the exact same thing. We’ll be playing and it will randomly and it will disconnect the Battle net client then the game. Happens about once an hour.

I expect their answer will be their usual coroporate script: We can’t find a reason on our end so contact your internet provider and do 10 hours of work testing all of your LAN components and in 7 weeks we’ll make an update that fixes this problem that we created with the latest patch.

I’m not one of those “I’m gonna unsubscribe” people, but this started with 8.1.5. It’s pretty obvious. I am however a little annoyed at the amount of time it took to reset every 5 minutes the WinMTR test until the disconnect occurred. That was not quality time spent online.

I am experiencing the same thing. Random disconnects at least once or twice an hour and it only started with the 8.1.5 patch. All drivers have been updated.

I did a router/modem power cycle, along with releasing/renewing my IP and flushing my DNS and it seemed to work. They have steps on how to do that in their support guides.

Also experiencing this issue. Internet connection is not dropping out since streaming, Discord, etc. are unaffected.

I’m also having random disconnects. I just did 2 island expeditions and it happened a total of 4 times within 20 minutes. It shows up as a critical issue, asks me to tell Blizzard what I was doing at the time, then I close that window and log back in. It doesn’t take long to get back, but it is keeping me from doing anything serious in the game (keys or raid) because I’ll be dragging others down if/when I crash out :[

Having this issue as well. Still waiting for a blue post that has an actual resolution outside of asking for diagnostics. I’ve taken every step that has been recommended both from forums I’ve read and the online troubleshoot that Blizz has for the disconnection error code. I am too paranoid to do mythic 15+ keys with my friends, which is primarily what I do for fun in this game. There’s no way for me to do the many team-oriented stuff without being a technical burden on everyone else, it’s really ruining the great mood I have for this game.

For those having issues, please go through the steps here to run the WinMTR test and post the results as the OP has done. Please also include what ISP you’re on and any troubleshooting steps that have been taken.

EDIT: When replying please also post your router/modem make and model so we can gather that information.

While there is a mix of ISPs here, the majority of reports we are seeing are from players on Cox and CenturyLink. If any of y’all have the option, I’d recommend testing with a different network to help narrow things down. If you have a phone and data plan that supports it, we can accomplish this by setting up a USB tether or mobile hotspot to connect through. In doing so, we’ll be able to bypass the router\modem as well as the routing provided by your usual service provider.

@ PontĂf
Can you run the WinMTR one more time? This time keep an eye on it and see if the packet loss starts when the disconnect happens. If so this would indicate that the WinMTR also lost connection, and not just the game.

If you or anyone else on your network is able give a different network a try as mentioned above, I’d recommend doing so.

Ok. I have Cox as my ISP. Steps I’ve taken. I’ve reset my modem and switches. I’ve released/renewed my IP and flushed my DNS. Here are the MTR results after a disconnect. I had to put a space in between .net and the other host names in the results since it won’t let me post links.

Whatever the issue is, it is disconnecting my PC entirely from the internet. The “no internet” icon pops up for a second. This only happens when i am logged into WoW.

For those having issues be sure to post the WinMTR results and what ISP you’re on. Let’s also try disabling the Optimize Network for Speed setting in the Network settings in-game.

I disabled the optimize settings and it is still happening.

This has been happening to me all night. I have Verizon FiOs. I go to run the WinMTR and only get “no response from host”. The issue is only affecting the game and Bnet app. I have no issues outside of that. I was able to get on Twitter and Facebook with no problems and my phone is fine as well.

Barleya,

For Verizon Fios this a very common occurrence. Their network does not work well with a standard winMTR. There are more complex networking tests you can run but unfortunately we’re not able to provide instructions to them through support.

For those who have submitted winMTR so far, the tests are all showing significant signs of packet loss. The packet loss is showing on the modems in most cases so far as indicated by the following:

Pontif:
| modem.domain - 100 | 67222 | 446 | 0 | 0 | 27 | 1 |

Gaius:
192.168.0.1 - 99 69923 1169 0 0 94 0

Be sure to check for “Quality of Service” settings on your modem, router, and computer to help ensure nothing is changing network priorities. If you’re not sure how to login to the router, go to Portforward.

Common examples of QOS software on a computer are:

Happening to me as well ALL Day Comcast. East Coast

I have checked QoS on my PC, router/Modem and my wife’s PC. It is not set up to switch any network priorities. I’m not sure it would be related to that anyway since my wife’s pc will disconnect at different times from mine. No other web pages or any of my other connected devices have issues. I’ts 100% only with Warcraft.

I am with Spectrum. I have tried all the fixes mentioned and it is still happening. random disconnects about once or twice an hour.
