DC death protection

I tried to see if there was a thread for this or not, but, didn’t see one (or missed it).

Loving the game. One of my friends won’t come back until there is more refinement/improvement on deaths due to DC. I have been fortunate so far, but, is there on-going effort to combat DC deaths or is it already as good as it’s going to be?

I would love to tell him “Go AGANE they made it better!”

Nope they haven’t fixed DC deaths. You can die to a DC at anytime.

Have fun.

Goodluck friend. I appreciate the response.

Allowing a free resurrection on a non-hc server is plenty generous imo.

Here’s what your friend should do.

When they’re about to dc, just don’t.

He will be missed.

There is no solution for that but putting in an appeal system. That’s what the original HC addon was doing and was working great. Real DC death is something that should be appealable and lack of that option hurts. This will just get worse in time as more and more ppl are getting to higher levels.

This actually baffles the hell out of me. I DC’d today as a 36 druid, and I had assumed given that the community run version had an appeal system that the official one would have had one as well. I’m perfectly fine dying when it’s my screw-up, but not having an appeal system for a DC that knocked out your internet for all of 40 seconds is infuriating.

It’s the equivalency to doing any kind of ironman mode in another game but getting a corrupted save file rather than messing anything up. Blizzard must have some kind of logs of the players actions where they could easily tell it’s a DC. I can only assume that Blizzard just doesn’t want to pay someone to look at reports when this happens. I’ve played WoW since the original launch and was enjoying HC quite a bit, but seeing so many people die from DC’s has me on the verge of dropping HC altogether. And i suspect a good number of new players already did the same.

Hard pass.

I’m not buying a GM a pizza.

First sign of trouble, unplug from the internet.

No, thank you.

My favorite part of Hardcorpse is the playing field is even. You die, you die. No appeals, no crying to mommy, no sucking up to a GM.

Agree it’s real frustrating but you agree (by way of a modal that pops up every time you want to create a toon) that you know DC deaths are permanent as well. That right there tells you Blizz ain’t doin a thing about it.

Therein lies the issue. the “first sign of trouble” is the only one there is. I’d hardly call a DC an “even playing field” - loss of internet has nothing to do with having played properly or not. And like it or not if it keeps up I doubt many players are going to stick around on the HC servers.

All evidence to the contrary.

You die, you die.

Oh, and what do you say to the player getting dropped off of gryphons due to bugs? Those deaths can’t be appealed either even though it’s been a known bug for decades. Were they also on an even playing field? Tell me; where did they screw up that they should be set back 100 hours and denied a death in actual combat?

You die, you die.

People really just check that box before creating a character and really have no idea what they’re signing up for…

I’d say it was after hitting agree to the terms of the HC server where dead is dead regardless of the circumstances and thinking falling off a gryphon didn’t pertain to that.

Oh, silly me. I forgot, this is the internet and we don’t need a a valid reason not to fix systems that don’t make sense. Dying from bugs and DC’s should simply be the norm (and chase off a large portion of the potential player-base) because the trolls without a reason say so.

Classic started dying from that kind of toxicity, and it’s going to kill official HC also. And with the amount of deaths going around from bugs and DC’s I expect it will happen sooner rather than later. The truth is you don’t have a valid reason why DC’s and bugs should count as deaths other than “why the hell not?”.

And because you died.

I’d say it’s a bit hard to had been the one who “died” while quite literally not being able to play the game. I don’t really care if my toon is rezed - I care that it’s an absolutely idiotic design choice put in place to avoid paying a GM reading requests. Even if you could win the DC argument, there’s zero defense against not rezzing player who die from verifiable bugs. You’re just trolling at that point. If someone hacked your account and got all your characters killed would your response be the same? They died, so they died? I sincerely doubt it - it’s a circumstance outside of the players control.

So I’ll say it again. I already transferred and will finish my run. But if you think that leaving things the way they are is good for the games health or fair in the slightest you’re living on a different planet from 99% of the player-base (and the original HC modded player-base at that.)
