For months now I have seen DBM Timers be off in numerous cases. Seeing as disc relies on getting the timing perfect, this has repeatedly been an issue for me in raids–and it has made the timing of actions on some fights in M+ also a little tricky–such as at NW on the second boss.
Are there ways to deal with this? Is Big Wigs better?
There arent many fights where you need precise timer for abilities. Why would you need precise timer for the 2nd boss of NW? Just find yourself some cues to know when to pop cd.
NW is just one example, and the damage in that fight can be very high, so it is simply nice to know when you have to dodge the breath. On Council, the timers are just plain wrong, and your ramp has to start 10-15 seconds before. Hence, it can kill your ramps.
If you turn this addon off, are you unable to do the fight? I’m just curious if its fun to have the program tell you when to do things as opposed to knowing when to do things in your head?
pretty sure the CN Weak Aura package tells you all that stuff, im more of a big wig’s fan tho. what are you ramping for on council?
What I did was change the colors in dbm for the spells that I ramp on so it stands out better. That’s in dmb for the raid seeing. For dungeons, I don’t have any way of knowing cast timers prior to cast
You don’t need timer for Mythic Council. You either ramp on cd, or ramp few second before end of intermission. You don’t need timer for breath in NW, it always happen after the add spawn, make sure you stand near the boss and be aware of the sound cue from dbm or from the actual boss (“bonefang will reduce you to the dust” iirc).
Again, I can’t think of a single fight where you actually need dbm timers as disc priest. PvE is extremely scripted, you just have to learn the script using cues. Few examples:
ramp at 4-5 stacks during the dancing intermission on council, ramp after the seismic shift against sludge fist, ramp 8-10sec into the suck mechanic on artificier, ramp few second after blood thing after the first los on shriekwing, etc.
Timers aren’t necessarily off, boss ability queuing just screws them up sometimes as does inconsistent/low DPS. Glyph of Destruction, Wave of Blood, Dancing Fever are some examples. Your shells will start to misalign with dancing fever if dps is too low like a minute after the first macabre, as an example. The add spawn for Innerva is another one that gets off all the time.
Can you please share how you hit beyond the first Glyph of Destruction without using timers?
yea, 10sec into the pull 1st ramp, 2nd ramp is a few second after the first seed explosion, 3rd ramp is few second into the first suck, and last ramp is few second into the last suck. Something like that, never looked at the dbm timer for the fight in Mythic and I still had decent parse.
If you don’t mind sharing more, what do you do for Hungering? Sometimes it’s hit or miss for me.
I’ll try, havent done the fight in months though.
On pull, during the end of 2nd expunge, during the end of 1st expunge after 1st consume, during the end of the 2nd consume. That last ramp mimic the first ramp you did on pull, so its cyclic after that.
Um, do you play disc priest? Also, some of us want to get it right early on–as in the first week raids are out. Also, disc is a proactive kind of healer. Other healers are all easy in that you see health bars drop, and you heal them up. I never paid one iota of attention to timers ever when playing other healers. It was simply not necessary. And you learned the fights simply by doing them over and over.
Judging by the toon you are posting on you play holy and have only healed LFR. I have a few disc priests and on two or three of them on LFR I regularly outhealed 205-215 ilevel holy and disc priests as a disc priest at ilevel 180-190 looking at timers.
On Mythic the timers have always been fine for me on that fight. Ramp for Desolate and mini-ramp between.
On Tyrannical weeks knowing when Necrotic Breath is coming out is a great help. Some tanks are horrible at taunting the mobs, move the boss all over the place and some deeps are horrible about kicks. When the three are combined you can have your hands full and it just helps you to know when to move yourself right up on the boss so you don’t get nuked. Also, some deeps can be way out of position when it comes in so it is nice to know cuz you may have to cast Rapture and spam shields so they survive.
I was just asking a question u dont have to attack me jee whiz.
I just think its more fun without any mods telling me what to do.
It was not meant as an attack, and seemed like an honest answer to what may have been interpreted as an attack itself.
As for mods telling you what to do, disc relies on setting up for healing before the damage comes in. It’s tricky to be honest. Disc also has serious mana issues so you can’t afford to be wrong.
I get alot of groups lately where ppl get angry and yell at ppl then leave. I think alot of the ppl in the higher keys are burned out.
In my experience when you get into mid and higher end content it is only inexperienced players who are toxic that ever blame a reasonably experienced healer. In 15s and up you rarely get toxic people who do not know what they are doing, but just the same, there are those kinds in those runs. I simply tell people who blame, call others out and are toxic to take a hike, and put them on my ignore list. Be constructive or don’t talk to me. Or heal a 1000 dungeons and get back to me.
