DBM addon Alternative

Heyo! I am a fan of offering in-game assistance for things people would download addons for. I was thinking if they added a group of NPCs outside the dungeons or raids to give a briefing scenario on the mechanics would be an alternative to Deadly Boss Mod.

For example, I only just came back and I don’t know the dungeons. I read the Adventure Journal but since I’m visual I don’t know the visual ques, or I have a hard time picturing things before the fight. But for any reason that someone wouldn’t have understood from the journal, and then pops into a dungeon, like Cinderbrew, having a scenarios that makes you look for the bartender mechanic, the bee barrel mechanic, explosive barrel mechanic. Then you know what to do for your role exactly.

The npc could look like they’re all there to help lore wise, and the commander you talk to and he/she/they gives you a list of bosses to choose from and when you do you get the scenario that slows down the encounter for you to understand the mechanic.

I feel like this would fit in well with WoW, it would help players who haven’t done the content yet. It could be something that comes out in season 2 of the expansion or so. Or even just be there for people.

Thanks for reading, and let me know what you think.

I think it’s a great idea, and it would be really helpful for people who are more visual or experiential to have an opportunity to practice solo, with no actual consequences or loot.

However, I don’t believe more than a tiny sliver of the game population would actually use it unless they were given some material incentive. I don’t think there should be any incentive provided though, beyond the opportunity to learn and prepare without a group around.

I think most people would rather just spend their time trying to actually get loot than preparing to play better, and will just continue to queue into pugs “learning on the fly”, and just failing mechanics until they find a group that can carry them.

It’s possible that I’m overly cynical though, and maybe this is exactly what the game needs to get people to play better and actually be prepared for raid and dungeon encounters.
