When running through mobs you get dazed and dismounted.
Is there any way in Vanilla to stop that?
Donât run through mobs.
No.
It is worth noting, though, that the rate at which mobs daze you is much lower in Classic than it has been at various points in post-Classic. You can reasonably expect to just ride past one or two mobs and take a hit here and there without being dazed. (Itâll happen sometimes, but youâll probably be fine.)
Ah, there WAS one thing I did when I got too close.
Since jumping doesnât reduce speed you could do the hunter kite trick.
Sideways jump. Daze is only applied if your back is to the mob.
i remember if your crit immune(defense cap) they canât daze you in later expansions. i never tanked in vanilla though so not sure.
My recollection is that this was added in BC, though I might be wrong.
Having a Power Word: Shield, Frost Barrier, or another physical absorb effect active makes you immune to Daze as long as the shield holds.
Other than that, no.
I remember a friend giving me very good advice when I first played WoW: stick to the roads.
Kill them all
Learn to navigate mob packs. One of our old tricks was to go to Ungoru Crater and spend an afternoon âriding the Ravasaursâ⌠if you could get good enough you could ride untouched through tightly packed mobs. It was a skill that served me well throughout WoW.
It may have been added later, but I believe there is an item that keeps you from being dismounted.
You just jump and face the mob as you are passing them, then spin back in the direction you want to go before you land. I do it all the time. Might take some a little practice but it works.
Strafe the mobs and turn ever so slightly to keep them in front of you. Other than that the only immunity is preventing damage in the first place.
This right here. Strafing will keep mobs from dazing you. If you have to go through mobs, learn to turn and keep them in your frontal 180-degree cone.
that wasnt a vanilla item
Leatherworkers make leather bardings to prevent dismounting but that was added in Legion, aka over 10 years after Vanilla.
AFAIK dismounting was caused by dazing, which is caused by getting crit from behind by an NPC. Either be tanky enough to never be crit or make sure you donât get hit from behind by mobs.
Yes this⌠It was a crucial element to AOE grinding as a frost mage at higher levels. Often required ârounding upâ tons of mobs then dismounting and novaing them so you could blizzard. As long as an absorb shield holds you wouldnât be dismounted in classic (PW:S, Ice Barrier etc).
I noticed on many private servers they got that wrong; many badly scripted private servers allowed dazing through absorb shields which is wrong.
