Day Of The Rake

Canadians currently can’t login to WoW. Is this what Trump meant when he said we would pay a price so big that it will be talked about in the history books?

Their main responsibility is dissolving governments, forming them, and codifying bills into actual laws, they also act as the monarch’s representative in parliament. In a Westminster-style parliamentary system, a party “forms a government” when they get enough votes (but you’re always voting for the party, not the man), and it can be dissolved by stuff like a non-confidence vote from the other parties with active seats (similar to your congress impeaching someone, but there’s an election called immediately), and elections can happen whenever, and there’s no term limits.

In practice when a party actually forms a government, the attorney general basically just act on the advice of the prime minister and historically has almost never veered from that, and even though the crown is technically “their boss”, they don’t take a very active role to say the least and it’s basically just a respect thing (we have our own constitution - technically were independent from the crown, but still keep some their stuff out of respect to the commonwealth/our history)

And do you really want a 51st state that comes with 50 democrat electoral college votes until the end of time lol? There’s based parts of Canada for sure, but the major cities absolutely are not based and at best, you get a swing state with the population of California

Can you also explain the part about how the governor general can suspend parliament when a party leader decides to resign?

Very similar to attorney general, but ya, that doesn’t mean that the government ceases to function, they just can’t introduce new bills until parliament is called into session again.

Also for what it’s worth, I think the games the liberals are currently playing with proroguing government, Trudeau resigning, them electing a new party leader+pm are ridiculous, but there’s almost certainly going to be an ultimatum given by the opposition parties to either call an election, or a vote of non confidence will be issued and an election is called either way, and since the liberals are a minority government, they wouldn’t have a choice

What would have happened if the governor general didn’t grant the request of the leaving prime minister to suspend parliament?

I’m not sure, I don’t think that’s ever happened, but I’m assuming an election would be called. But it would be kind of a silly request to ignore, suspending a party’s ability to hamfist a bunch of ridiculous spending bills in on their way out (common) isn’t exactly ideal either

So basically you never have elections until someone resigns or a no confidence vote can be achieved. At which point, someone who answers to England still gets to make sure that by the time you get to vote, it’s still incumbent in power vs other party.

Naw we have them every 4 years if nothing like that happens. They just can get elected for more than 2 terms in a row

Is Australia just island Europe?

I already knew the answers to all of these questions, I just wanted to make the Canadian explain it.

Australia is also England.

Elections for what every 4 years?

I knew what you were getting at. And no, being head of state doesn’t grant you control of the country’s military or executive power (ie, the basis for all independent countries), and the Constitution Act granted us codified independence from the UK
