Day and night cycle?

Just watched the video of how much they worked on WoW classic. Fixing light, animation, texture, etc...

I just wonder for those who had the chance to try it. Did they bring back the "REAL" day night cycle where night are ... almost scary :D
I would love to know this, too.

I really, really miss the original day and night cycles. True nights in Azeroth were awesomely dark. Duskwood, at night, was gloriously spooky :)
Slight bump to see if anyone has the answer to that question. Won't bump anymore if I don't get answered.
The real day and night cycle? I remember it being more fake actually, before the dynamic shadow system in wrath all the terrain shadows where baked in and didn't move so they had to make the sun rise and fall on the same side of the map, it was pretty funny.

Last time I played... There was no night anymore. Only day light 24/24 & 7/7....
I do miss redridge at night.
Darker nights were patched back in an expansion or two ago… during MoP or WoD I think? I forget. Either way, BfA nights are mostly at Vanilla darkness (a couple zones are slightly lighter than vanilla, a couple slightly darker) and so will Classic nights.

Here’s an Imgur album comparing 1.12 and retail:

EDIT: Doesn’t matter much to Classic only players, but the map designers very much embraced dark nights while making Kul’Tiras and Zandalar. Running around in Tiragarde Sound and Nazmir at night is really cool because they’re both darker than any vanilla zone ever was.

Well, it's all 'fake' because it's a video game, but in the original WoW it was difficult to see at night. It's like the sun set or something and it was really, really dark.

It was bright during the day and dark at night. That's what people want back.

This isn't true, retail WoW has been as dark as Vanilla was for years now and it's no where near the levels of being difficult to see at night. If you really want dark nights, you're asking for a change and it's one I would be cool with.
I remeber playing on a CRT monitor when it launched. That could definitely contribute to the darkness.

Can’t wait for OLED monitors to have their burn-in issues fixed and become cheap. Modern LCDs are great but have nothing on CRTs for those inky blacks.

I played on a Radeon HD 5770.... and I believe this wasn,t my first card when I started to play WoW Vanilla.
My main issue with that would be that if it was, for us in Oceanic Classic would be mostly unplayable.

We follow US timezones as far as the day/night cycle is concerned - so for us when we play in the afternoon, the game environment is in the middle of the night. Blizzard refuses to give us our own dynamic timezone-appropriate cycle; apparently its too much effort to even provide something like the reverse of the Inky Black Potion so we can choose to play in daylight if we want to.
