Hi all, so obviously launch day is going to be crazy even with layering. I doubt that the quests in the Valley of Trials will be able to be completed simply due to competition for mobs.
My plan is to get 4 buddies who also want to make Trolls or Orcs and form a group the minute we can get in when the servers go live. We’re going to immediately exit the Valley of Trials to the East, get “A Peon’s Burden” (you can get this at level 1) and then run up to Razor Hill and turn it in. Then we’ll go to Tiragarde Keep to the Southeast and grind on the humanoid mobs there. We shouldn’t have a problem defeating these mobs as a group of 5 since they’re only level 5-6. If for some reason we have competition for them, we can head across the road and grind on the Quillboars over there.
Once we ding level 3 we can head back to Razor Hill and accept “From the Wreckage…” and “Vanquish the Betrayers” and go do those quests. I’m hoping that this will allow us to bypass the ridiculous bottleneck that will inevitably happen on day 1.
You could probably do this in any of the starting areas too. Humans could leave Northshire Valley and farm the Defias thieves near Goldshire. Undead could go farm the mobs at the pumpkin patch. Dwarves/Gnomes could farm the Yetis near Kharanos. Tauren could farm the mobs near the well just north of Bloodhoof, and Night Elves could farm the Furbolgs at Starbreeze Village just south of Shadowglen.
Not really trying to get ahead of the curve here and power-level all the way to 60, just want to do something that’s actually fun and efficient on day 1 instead of desperately tab targeting and mashing Arcane Shot as fast as possible to tap one mob every 15 minutes lol.
What do you think? Is this a good plan?

Fight the Authentication boss for 1-4 hours.
Fight the Loading boss for 1-5 minutes.
Fight the DC boss randomly throughout my day.
BS on the forums/discord a lot.

if you have friends that’s probably a good idea. the starting zones are going to be chaotic unless blizz severely layers the starting zones.

Step one, alleviate stress
Step two, negate thirst/dry mouth with liquids
Step three, get angry that my journey isn’t going as fast as I intended
Step four, alleviate stress
Step five, negate hunger with adequate food
Step six, negate thirst/dry mouth with liquids
Step seven, get angry that my journey isn’t going as fast as I intended
Step eight, repeats steps 1 through 7 indefinitely.
I’m running straight for explo xp and flight paths.
Im planning Orc Hunter and like you right to A Peons Burden but I’ll dodge some mobs for Senjin than the Kultirans place up to Razor Hill and Org. Zep to UC grab Brill and then UC FP.
Hearth back to the Den and secret path to Ratchet> X Roads >Camp T>TB.

My plan (largely influenced by my experience in the stress test) will be to group up and do all the quests in Valley of Trials except for the scorpion tails. I found all the quests (except tails) to be reasonable with a group. Still slow, but my subjective judgment is that it would be faster than grinding mobs out in the wild.

I’m really out of the loop here. What’s being launched? Can’t be Classic, that’s not until August.
Awake in Coldridge, feel/hear the crunch of the snow again, collect exploration xp and fp through Kharanos/IF/SW/Elwynn/Thelsamar/Menethil/Theramore/Auberdine/Darn, quest on Teld if not too crowded or fish/collect/craft until everyone else gets home and logs in
Very solid plan and once you get ahead of the curve, you maintain it and you’ll own zones.
Hmmm… My plan…
Step 1: Sleep in, servers will probably be a mess anyway.
Step 2: Pizza
Step 3: Hope that the servers are not backed up, busted up, or to terribly unstable.
Step 4: Get on and relive the adventure!
Step 5: Don’t overdo it, make sure to go to sleep at an acceptable time. Azeroth will be there on day 2 and beyond.
I won’t tell, but to the OP, it’s a bad idea to share this here… others may be inspired and you will end with your spots camped by several groups
Probably skip day1 to avoid all this nonsense. Day2 should be better.
Absolutely! Take it easy and don’t over think it guys. It’ll be there after we’ve had our sleep, it’ll still be there whenever we get home from work/school/whatever it is you’re doing.
I understand wanting to get to 60 fast but I also understand taking it easy and enjoying the ride!

I can understand this, but I want to experience the release mayhem. I came into Vanilla in March/April of 2005. So the game was already aged and spread out by then.
I do have my expectations under control and realize I will not be level 10 in 2.5 hours like I would be if I was the only one in the zone playing. I don’t expect to be level 10 until day 2 or 3.
I’ll wait till that Friday evening after launch
at the earliest to log in. I might put my toes in the water earlier, but I don’t have the patience for overcrowded zones.
I’m also in BETA, so I’m likely not jonesing as bad as most, lol.
My plan is to level my druid to 10 or so first and farm leather and get my leatherworking up to make the a bunch of the green chest pieces. Then mail them to my warlock and make the first 2 wands. That should last me until the gravestone scepter from BFD. Then level the lock to 60.
