I’m here for it. Just be careful to also include that you want a 4th Shaman spec, and not for one of the current 3 to replaced with a tank specialization

I’d be happy for it to be a tmog option. I think trying to balance around WF 1 shots would be almost impossible.
So… since I’ve also wanted an earth/tank shaman spec and my shaman is a goblin…
I know they’d never go for this –
My vision for a tank spec revolves around shaman’s earth elemental and buffing him up to be even more tanky. Except, since my shaman is a goblin, and thus really small… I want him to ride on the shoulders of his earth elemental and give directions from up there.
It’s ridiculous but everything goblins do is ridiculous.
Could also apply to dwarves. And humans… if they ever get shaman, which they probably wont even though it’d make perfect sense.

Shaman doesn’t need a tank spec.
I have been pushing for this for many, many years. So … yeah … day one was a looonnng time ago.
I dispute this notion based on the fact that I was a main spec’d tank all the way up until they stripped all of our tanking talents in a WoTLK patch. I tanked all throughout Vanilla; I main tanked all of Burning Crusade, from Heroic dungeons, up to Black Temple; I tanked most of WoTLK, at least up until the pre-ICC patch. So, yes, shaman indeed were tanks at one point as evidenced by many of their tanking talents.
Yes, they do. They do more than a druid did.
I have always felt that since shaman have 4 elements (Water, Fire, Earth, Air), that they ought to base the specs on those.
Water = Restoration
Fire = Elemental DPS
Air = Melee DPS
Earth = Tank
It only makes perfect sense. Air is obviously associated with Enhancement DPS, while water is for Restoration. Fire spells are a ranged DPS aspect. That leaves us with earth, which hardens and imbues you with strength, making you damage resilient. WHY IS THIS NOT A THING? This made so much more sense than druids having 4 specs. A bear could be DPS or a tank when you think about it. For shaman, there is only one logical conclusion for using the four elements.

I played a Shaman tank in SoD and loved it. Look up Blizzard’s original description of Shamans, and it included tanking.

Same concept that left me confused the black dragonflight themed spec for evokers isn’t a tank.
But if I can get that theme outta shaman, then I’m here for it!

Worst part about being a dhaman is how squishy we are in open world. If we got a tank spec id be happy always being a tank in open world and doing delves. Plus itll actually make me want to tank dungeons and raids. Win win add a 4th tank spec its time

Im most likely wrong here, but, i think they will eventually do it. If Blizzard does it, they will pull a Fast One like limiting the forth spec to the Earthen Race and unveil it during Midnight and then open it to all races going into the 3rd part of the trilogy after it gets properly tuned. I think its almost a done deal at this point.
