I went in to the arena for the weekly quest. I’m playing my tank alt, that’s like, ilvl 670 or something. Getting white hits for 700k from the mobs. Dying over and over to the named bosses. The only strategy I’ve found is to not get hit and kite them around a circle while my NPC party attacks them? I think I’m at like 10 deaths so far. Not sure what I’m doing wrong, but it’s unsurvivable.

Take off your shirt.
There’s a bug where shirts (and some say tabards) scale your item level to 1 instead of the intended 619.

it’s a bug currently that if you look at the buff the event gives us the play fair thing is setting peoples ilvl to 1
My friend was also getting scaled down to 1 ilvl. My Dk also couldn’t summon his pet, it just randomly spawned sometimes lol

Oh that explains it. I couldn’t figure out why I had such low health either. Ok thanks everybody.
I had the same bug, was frustrating but was one way to get the ‘underdog’ achievement after a grueling experience. Didn’t really touch it again until someone posted about the workaround and go figure, that made a massive difference (scores of <30k being replaced with scores over 500k)

Yep can confirm just went in and took my shirt off upped the ilvl back to 619 so yeah shirts seems to be the issue

Blizzard, mates, what the hell are you guys doing while working on this game? Are you just pressing random buttons and saying there ya go, a new feature, Im sure that will work?
It almost feels like they have 18 year old trainee software people being put onto doing things unsupervised. I find it hard to believe experienced gaming software devs are capable of stupid mistakes like that.

Under bad enough circumstances, I’m sure any team is capable of pushing out crap like this. The good old corporate playbook of trim the fat and drive the remaining people to make up the difference is always destroying good things… profits above all else!

I just tried it on a level 80. I equipped a level 1 tabard.
When I checked the gear screen, all my gear had been set to Level 619 - including the Tabard. So it went the other way, from Level 1 to Level 619. Pretty awesome strength Tabard.
So maybe the update earlier reset stuff?
I just did it a second time with no shirt or tabard and my health went from like 2.8 million to 10 million with the hamburger buff so it seems to be working ok now. Was able to complete the scenario without dying.
