Title says it all. Since Zandalari have these amazing dinosaur forms, could regular Trolls perhaps get some love based off the Jungle Troll Primals / High Priests?
A couple ideas spring to mind on what these forms could entail. And yes I’d be fine with them being glyphs also since I know how well some people take change on these forums.
I agree that the tank form don’t have any sense, since they don’t worship any bear loa, also there is no bears in Durotar where they live now, and no bears in Stranglethorn Vale where they used to live before.
But a giant spider doesn’t fit much IMHO with what should be an strongh form. The only bulky loa for that job that is also worshiped for the Darkspeares would be Krag’wa. But we really want to see a troll shapeshifting into a big frog?
May be a gorilla form related to Stranglethorn Vale would be the best option.
While I agree updating the druid forms for older races would be great, darkspear trolls have some of the most unique forms among the older races. If they were to update the old forms I would expect them to start with the Night Elf and Tauren forms, thought there I would hope they keep changes minimal. From there it is long past time Worgen were finally given a wolf form to replace the cat form. I mean come on they are as a race already half way to being in a druidic wolf form. From there I think changes to the darkspear forms should be minimal. I can see the argument for using something else in place of a bear but i don’t know what loa they have that would fit well. Their cat form is fine and quite unique as it is. The idea of a snake swim form i think is neat though maybe not necessary, but they don’t need a different moonkin form. After all, they gave even the Kul Tirans, who have a stronger lore separation from regular druids than Zandalari, a moonkin form instead of something that could more appropriately fit their Drust magic.
That is why I prefaced this in my post. The bottom line though is that Trolls in general should not be using Cenarion Circle themed forms, and I disagree with you that they are “fine” specifically where it relates to Cat and Bear. They are not at all fine. The Darkspear are stated to have learned from Gonk, who is a Loa. With that logic in mind, they should look very different than the Night Elves and Tauren who trained together.
I do agree that Worgen also should have different forms but that’s a totally different discussion. It does however go back to the core problem. That each race needs and deserves it’s own unique forms, not slight alterations of the Night Elf form.
For people who are purists, glyphs can be made for the original forms. For those that like the staple of Bear, Cat, Chicken there’s also the Artifact Forms which still can be unlocked, and isn’t going anywhere.
Fact is though if we’re going to go all out for 2 Allied Races, the same sort of care needs to go into how one represents the Core-races as well, or else there’s no point to rolling them at all. Trolls and Worgen need some major overhauls to their forms that distance them from Night Elves completely. A massive Werewolf for Tank, A actual wolf for Dps, a Wolpertinger for Travel ( -wink- ), and maybe a thorn covered raven or crow for flight.
And yet you rolled Zandalari instead of a Darkspear. I rest my case.
The only thing I don’t like about zandalari are their cat and bear forms. Their travel forms for flight, ground, and water are amazing though.
I don’t like the reg troll bat form for flight, meanwhile all original druids use the same model for ground travel and water travel forms. Regular troll cat and bear forms are pretty.
I don’t understand your problem with the troll cat form. It is clearly based on the tiger loa Shrivallah and yet you seem to think it doesn’t fit their lore. Yes in their lore Gonk is the one who got the ball rolling on druidism but it explicitly states that druidism requires drawing on all the spirits not just one solitary loa.
As for their bear form I already agreed with you on that but there isn’t really a particular loa they worship nor really any animal from Stanglethorne that would fit the tank archetype. The only thing i would really change about them at this time is maybe give them a raptor travel form to represent their connection with Gonk.
I think a better restatement of my position is not that I have an issue with the Tiger form, but rather that I feel it should be less of a reskin of the Night Elf Cat form, much the same as I feel about the Worgen’s “Cat” form.
It makes sense for the Tauren and Night Elves to use such a form since Cenarius taught them. It makes far less for a Troll Druid who was trained by Gonk to possess such a similar form, or even the Moon Mark / Tattoo they do.
With this in mind, I merely suggest that they create something that looks far more like Shirvallah, with a Glyph that turns you into a Thekal-esk Primal? Claws of Shirvallah was a very popular talent for a reason.
It wouldn’t make sense to give the trolls alone the claws of shirvallah style cat form. Sure the trolls were taught by Gonk but Gonk is a wild god no different from Cenarius. What Gonk taught the trolls is the same druidism that the other races use, except maybe Kul’ Tirans.
As for Thekal he was a loa priest so his form didn’t look like druid forms because it wasn’t a druid form. Druids take the form of an animal to gain its power and they don’t generally stop halfway when they do it, troll or not. It seems a bit silly to be unhappy with any form where they become a cat, even if it’s a different cat, simply because it is a “reskin of the night elf cat form”. It doesn’t make sense for the druid form to be anything but a full on animal so if you can come up with a different animal entirely more power to you otherwise just hope that blizzard decides to bring back the claws of shirvallah form for druids in general at some point in the future.
Im fine with all the forms but Boomkin…its so lazy…just make it a more troll type bright color that matcher your character hair and give it tusks and some tiki masks. It looks too night elf.
I race changed my horde druid to Zandalari because of this. Would rather have a dinosaur form that’s all one color scheme than some whacked out psychodelic form. In fact, I wish they’d separate the animal form color from the humanoid hair color.
Folks as appealing as it would be to see new forms for Druids, please remember to check the date in the future before you reply. It’s been a year, and this thread in all likelihood is going to be locked at some point. Because of that, I’d encourage making a new thread for discussion, as it is still a very relevant topic.

Not gonna lie, just give me a flight form similar to what the elves have, and i’ll be satisified. I hate that i can’t just ‘sit’ in bird form. Drives me nuts.
