This ability is garbage. It would make more sense and it would feel so much better to use as a smoke bomb effect.

With every class bringing raid utility now blizz can buff darkness and amz back to where it was before.

It has its place as an interesting raid/m+ cooldown. However, I do agree that it is underwhelming as a major defensive CD. AMZ is infinitely better than darkness for example.
It only really shines when paired with spirit link totem, and that’s about it.
I wish they would rework the “Long Night” talent choice. Maybe instead of a 5 minute darkness that has a 2 second extended duration (SUPER niche, won’t see much action outside very specific interaction with boss mechanics), maybe include some DR or some other thing that makes it a more powerful defensive CD.

Just make it have a 10% damage reduction on top.
Changing the 25% chance to dodge to miss would go a long way. Maybe increasing avoidance as well.
same as blur, dh defences as self heal are the worst in all game, when you compare to the rest of classes with pre shields like shaman or paladin, and insta heals, shaman, paladin, warrior, hunter,
rogue have 100% evasion, /disapear

You’re weird. Darkness is 50% in PvP up from 20%. Genuinely an insane defensive. If it was allowed to go lower than 3 min CD it would be busted. Blur is short CD, mitigation, AND dodge.
Maybe it’s just me but it seems like DH are broken in PvP right now. Absurd healing, damage, blur on a 43 sec cd with max conduit, still has like 80% dodge, nether, darkness, glimpse, fodder. If you cant win with this free class right now maybe stay out of pvp lol.
right now, look like it since all the conduits and class abilities of shadow land are active, you can do glare 40% of no eyebeam CD with the second demon. and have the hunt,
darkness 20% chance of not been hit? really? rogues get 100%, that skill is meant for raid healers, on a 5 min cd? glimpse? really? you use it? you can’t be cc while you jump back, but doesn’t breck the CC so is useless 1 second immunity?
blur 50% chance to get hit and 20% reduction… in ideal world means 1 of 2 hits you still
get hit 80% since is random the reality you can be hit twice for 80% so really no great advantage to spent points in it.
fodder is funny, you are at the mercy of the demon to appear and to kill it when they magically show up. in arenas i only saw it once, so i change for elysian. is good that that talent point let you choose a random skill, or you control it.
but again if dh doesn’t hit dies, is like a shark don’t swim you don’t die. one stun. you are death.
a chaos strike can generate a soul, i do like the amount they are doing these days, is a just number, sadly you need to find it and grab it. you might be CC and not move and the soul is next to you… you die…
i do believe they still need a 5% more leach as base, 15% and 25% in meta, don’t forget is a percentage of damage we do. and we dont have a huge window on meta to really get all back.
i wish glare legendary becomes a talent.
50% ok, could means you get half de damage? half the hits. but in reallity each enemy roll dice on you,
and you could still very easy get all the hits.
is like tossing a coin twice, you can get heads and tail. ideally, reality you can also get 2 heads, or 2 tails. =( so not really great chances compare to other defensive skills the other classes have.
Glimpse is really good LOL. It removes any active disarms, if your are aware enough you can counter an whole enemy rmp go. Glimpse a cheap shot and fel rush away while the rogue just stands there confused. Incap the mage to stop a poly and you lived.
Blur is bugged and gives like 80% dodge.
Fodder is still good, it’s RNG but it can help break CC cause it hits you.
Darkness is 50% in PvP.
DH doesn’t need any buffs it’s a get good situation.

Yes except that’s not things work. 50% is 50%. Whether you get hit three times in a row or not doesn’t change the fact that it’s reducing damage taken by 50% on average.
i didn’t say DH is bad, defenses and sustain for DH are not as good as other classes.
while dh needs to make damage to self-heal, (one stun is SO deathly to a DH) compare to other classes such paladins shamans… where they get insta selfheal that 1 heals, 2 can’t be interrupted, or shields with X amount of Absorbtion, blur is a bad 50% chances sounds like ok, you get 50% less damage… but is 50% 50% means you can also be hit 100% of the time and just get a 20% reduction for a few seconds.
darkness 20% chance of avoidance, (pvp looks like is 50%, not sure if the bug has been fixed)
again, is a group skill for raids, glimpse not get movement impair attacks while on air/75% reduction for 1 sec! is really a crappy pvp talent, if was something like it breaks! the CC and you jump back then i am sold!
is not don’t like, it don’t use it. is not like we have so many defense skills to use beside blur and darkness. what options do we have or how we can get a proper and competitive defense as other classes, 50% chances of been hit and 20% damage reduction (of what i read tool tips and in forums) from those 3 hits, you could get miss the 3 or hit the 3 of them.
let’s assume each hit is 100 points damage, you might be VERY lucky and instead getting hit 3 times you didn’t. so, zero damage
but is the other side of the coin where you got hit 3 times! 300 points, - the 20% damage reduction, so you got hit 240 instead 300… so is not really that so! amazing that is worthy.
is cool if you don’t get any hits right, but for a COMPETITIVE view, having a class in a competition that is 50% chances of win… well… vs warrior secure 30% hp back in a hit.

you could eye beam to get HP, stun… you are done 40 sec for another… chance, vs insta heal?
that’s why i believe that DH should have 15% leach as base and 25% as meta. so is not so dependent on meta form. that we can keep it up all the time, and we don’t have glare legendary anymore in the talents (40% of not get CD on eyebeam)
Please just stop. You are digging yourself deeper and deeper. Keep playing and get better, your best defensive is your mobility. Takes time to be aware of what the enemy is trying to do and once you get it down fel rush away or glimpse. I recommend watching DH streamers to see how to play better. DH defensives are good right now. Leech, netherwalk (not bugged it’s made to be 50% in PvP), blur (it’s bugged and gives 80% dodge chance), fodder, the hunt heal, then you can l use glimpse or even meta a cc. I see your NE you can also meld a cc. Get off forums and go practice.
I dare you to use your mobility to run away and heal… Oh wait you cant! Because DH doesn’t have self healing outside of leech besides Fodder of course. You HAVE to fight so this take is kinda dumb. Even me who wins probably 95 percent of my matches without dying can admit that our self healing absolutely sucks. I don’t know what your on about but if we dont get a fodder off and we get stunned then were most likely dead. Plain and simple. You try getting stunned multiple times and absolutely melted by a skilled player in PvP and you will change your mind about our survivability and actually I’d be willing to watch you duel multiple classes outside of Stormwind on Valdrakken if you play beta.
