Darkness changes

Can it get a rework?
A 5 minute cooldown for a small stationary AOE defensive is pretty insane.

Possible solutions:

Have darkness move with the DH!
Most of the time bad teammates run out of it because it looks a bit sinister and like something you shouldn’t stand in.
Allow us to chase them down for their own good!

Widen the area
If it’s going to be stationary, make it 2-3x its current size.

Buff strength
5 minutes is too long to justify the lengthy CD in its current form.

OR

Reduce CD
If you keep it at its current strength; make the CD 2 or 3 minutes.

Proposal:

Remove Netherwalk, and make Darkness a choice node

Darkness Within: Only the Demon Hunter gains 100% dodge chance for a short period of time

Darkness Without: A buffed version of the current darkness.

On the topic of netherwalk….
Why are you able to be snared while in another dimension?

Darkness is such a ridiculously bad ability right now that I don’t even take the talent. To be useful it needs to be a Blur in area, right now it’s an all or nothing, a waste of CD, especially with the long CD it has.

What? Darkness is great for mythic plus and pvp. Raid, not nearly as good for sure though.

Darkness has a very long CD and requires two talent points to make it halfway decent. It’s also just a dodge chance boost, so it’s a binary defensive skill (you either take damage or you don’t) there’s no mitigation involved unlike Blur, so its usefulness is incredibly inconsistent. Therefore, even if it can be useful in a niche, is objectively bad.

I hard disagree since it is a group skill while blur is for yourself only.

Though them adding a small DR to the choice node would be nice.

Group “skill” is right
Drop one in a pug and they scatter 9/10

If it just moved with the DH (preferably) or was a bit wider, it’d be a lot more effective in bad groups

I appreciate how it “attempts” to emulate DND’s Darkness spell, but i feel like it’s missing the mark a bit.

For those who don’t know. Darkness in DnD is a zone of non-visibility that nobody can see in or out of. Its use in combat is basically creating a little safe zone for you to dip in and out of to attack things without putting yourself at great risk. Enemies either have to take a wild guess as to where you are hiding inside of it, use an aoe attack, or simply just wonder where you are without being able to do anything. If you’re a warlock who is contracted to a fiend, or a shadow origin sorcerer, you get options that allow you to see through it and attack enemies from inside of it with advantage.

WoW attempts to emulate that by giving enemy attacks a chance to miss you while you’re in it. But it’s super RNG and impossible to tune without it being useless or overpowered. You can just press the button and it will literally do nothing. It’s a thing that can happen, and you can’t rely on it unless your group is stacked for some pulsing damage.

I’d fix it up by giving a higher chance to avoid damage on the initial hit and have it decay with each consecutive attack you avoid, per player. Or, alternatively, just make it slap an absorb shield on anyone who stands in it.
