Blizz says it's working as intended. :(

------
DARKMOON FAIRE PROFESSION QUESTS DO NOT INCREASE SKILL
Not a bug: With the changes to professions in 8.0, Darkmoon Faire skill quests count only towards classic profession levels.
------
Common Problems
I completed the Darkmoon Faire Skinning quest and I was not given the +5 skill mentioned in the reward.
Only got skill up to 300 from Darkmoon Faire.
With the profession changes in patch 8.0.1, Darkmoon Faire profession quests will only increase the base level of a profession up to a skill of 300. While this is an intended change we are looking to improve this experience in a future patch. If you have feedback regarding this change please submit a suggestion.
Only ref: seems to be the above response on EU servers, and the US ones:?
Can confirm the skill up is definitely buggy, i sent a ticket in as i swapped from Jewel crafting to Blacksmith and got to lvl 8 in Classic Blacksmith, completed the quest and no skill up, i also checked to learn EVERY version of Blacksmith and have not maxed any levels out on any of them yet.
There is definitely a problem but it would have been nice to have been told some notice or with the example +5 mining skill rename it to +5 CLASSIC Mining or what not.
At least the Archaeology quest isn't broken........ YET......
Also people remember if we do not like this feature Blizzard does have the following options
https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/21518https://us.battle.net/forums/en/wow/index (Which is this :P )
or in-game via the "Submit Feedback" in the "Help" section.
all of my toons did it the first DMF after the expac and none of them got the level up. as many threads as there are out here on the forums I have to guess it's as intended for the moment, even if only because it's not a priority.
It's only intended in the sense that that's the lie they tell. It's really broken and they don't want to fix it because there's no incentive. The whole overhaul was poorly done, as evidenced by all the profession items that require more than 300 points in a profession not working.
without skill up, i never will visit the darkmoon faire again, way to mess things up.
Another reason NOT to so something anymore in World of Warcraft.
Way to go. The brilliance continues.
Hey all,
Just figured I’d necro this with some good news!
From the 8.1 patch notes:
Darkmoon Faire quest-based skillups now apply automatically to the most recent expansion profession progress that is not at its maximum.
It’ll be good news when we see it works.
